Duncan Wheels and a Quicksilver Hybrid fixed tip spintop.

MaxBet for the next 5 days. I’m traveling for fun, and this is my travel throw this trip.

How’s the format: C? Worth $120?

Absolutely. One of the best yoyos I’ve tried to date.

Also, I’ve been throwing around the General Yo Prestige today.

yoyo143, It all depends on your definition of value. As is often stated, once you reach a certain level with yoyo design and manufacturing, there’s not much that makes one ā€œbetterā€ than the other; just different.

I am very glad to have paid full pop for the format:C. If nothing else, it’s just a beautiful objet d’art. Performance-wise, it plays at least as well as any other competition-grade yoyo I’ve played. It’s in the same leagues as some of my favourite SPYY throws such as the Pro and (surprisingly since they’re so different) El Ranchero. It plays alongside any CLYW I’ve ever thrown.

But is it an absolute revolution in yoyoing that will make you change your entire outlook on yoyos? No, it’s simply another beautiful and well-performing yoyo with aesthetic touches that are unseen until now (the ā€œSight Linesā€).

It still has shortcomings. Although my first reaction was positive to the grinding surface, a few days of throwing just confirms to me that pyramatte is only ā€œso-soā€ for grinds. I have a difficult time with IRG’s… even though you can feel a lip, the transition to it isn’t drastic enough and the thumb doesn’t stay sunk in unless you throw at an angle.

So really, ā€œis it worth it?ā€ comes down to a few things:

  1. Do you have a competition-style yoyo, and do you have a need for one in your life? If not, the format:C will fill this role and then some!

  2. Do the aesthetic touches appeal to you? Instead of saying ā€œmeh,ā€ do the solid colours with the raw ā€œsight linesā€ make you go ā€œWow, I love this!ā€ If so, maybe you should treat yourself!

  3. Are grinds an integral part of your style? If not, you’re losing nothing here! But if so, it might not be the ideal choice.

To be totally subjective and express solely my own opinion for a moment-- To me, the format:C plays exactly how a $120 yoyo should play. It stands alongside other companies with $140+ yoyos, though in some cases I think the latter are overpriced rather than OD’s offering being underpriced.

Anyhow. I’m thrilled to have mine. You can’t have it.

G2 triton.

G funk.

Haha!

I’m throwing a CODE2 and a Quicksilver Hybrid fixed tip spintop.

In a strange turn of events (given that I have so many new or new-to-me throws), chucking around the Kyo DNS.

New Flying Camel.

Nothing for the rest of the day because my g funk is drying (again). I chose to do it right now because ive got rehersal (or really i’ll be painting a set) from 4-7 today and 11-5 tomorow, so itll be good and cured. I also just ran out of silicone… Hopefully my parents will buy me a nice new tube.

Triton kind of day, getting stoked for the Quake.
