Celcon is injection molded, delrin is machined.
Celcon tends to be a little softer due to the injection molding process.
Thank you (since there isn’t a button for that)
I knew that delrin is machined and celcon is injection molded. I did not know they were both made of celcon, and I did not know that injection molded celcon is softer that delrin.
They’re not exactly the same plastic, but they are extremely similar. Celcon isn’t Delrin (actually called acetal, Delrin is just a brand name) that was just melted and then injected.
Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, polyacetal, and polyformaldehyde, is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability. Short-chained POM (chain length between 8 and 100 repeating units) is also better known as paraformaldehyde (PFA). As with many other synthetic polymers, polyoxymethylenes are produced by different chemical firms with slightly different formulas and sold as Delrin, Kocetal, Ultraform, PO...
A very interesting article on the whole thing.

Why do I have only have “Quote” and no “Thank You” available to me?
I don’t know, it’s the same for me!
I guess gratitude has become a thing of the past here at YYE.

It appears that a moderator/admin inadvertently locked the “thank you” on this board. I’ve unlocked it.
