What are you spinning?

That’s what I’m afraid of. Either I’ll need another top to work on a proper throw, or I’m just going to get too used to a shorter string and forward pass motion. I’m not sure it would be impossible to boomerang that way yet. I’ll give it a try. And may end up having to start all over from the ground up…

Maybe it’s me, but I find it odd that I haven’t seen any mention of Duncan tops around here. Vintage or modern. I’m assuming they must be kinda meh? Some of those older ones look like good cheap plastic fun…

The old and new Imperials certainly could be classified as meh.
The RipCords and Bearing Kings were fun, and pretty cheap, but they had some critical flaws. On the plus side, it helped convince me to learn how to make string, because they came with junk string that was always too short. The way the crown and the base went together with kind of a bayonet fitting which was really hard to open. And oh yeah, if you didn’t tape the seam with electrical tape they would bust when you drop them, which is always a possibility with a toy you throw at the ground.
They are fun after you make the nec. mods though. The Duncan guys could do wonders with them.

Is boomerang when you pull it back towards you and land it in your hand?

I can land the SC in my hand pretty consistently now… getting it to spin in a controlled manner is a different story haha.

Re-glued the tip with some gorilla wood glue after roughing it up a bit, using W!ld OT string and a CLYW Log, this lil Duncan twin spins awesome actually!! Very stable, like crazy stable for a fixie imo, not that I’ve play many

So these are my spin tops and I’ve learned something. Some of the string that came with the spin tops was either too long or too thin. So I started doing something today and I found that with every spin top I have and the way I throw this blue 58 in thick string throws every spin top I have in this picture 100% flawless without any hiccups.

This is the string that came with my Alice. The reason I decided to give it a shot was because the yoyo factory and the saturno all came with really thin string and to be honest with you I didn’t like it even the Rosalinda came with a little bit of a thinner string which works okay, but I have found that I really like thick string.

I love my cobras. I took the caps off of each and I swapped colors so my cobras have different cap colors. I got bored of the solid colors

I was unsure about getting into tops but the price of a few cobras was what sold me. Great stuff

The strings that come with the Alice are very good.:+1:

The string that came with the Love looks like a similar thickness. Really like it. Anyone know where to get a similar string when this one wears out?

Are we gonna see a Quicksilver in your future?

Not certain, but I heard that Strummol 8 string is hecho en Mexico.
So it is now expensive to get cheap top string…

The spin top side quest continues… Me and my Kindergartner have been having too much fun trying to pop this thing into our hands spinning, I had to jump on the very last Alice. Fitting it’s in KY blue. The aluminum cap came loose off my Love, revealing a thinner 2nd string. And it turns out I really set myself up for an awkward start… The Love is not only mini, but a bearing tip! It came tightened down to where it stayed fixed at first, but loosened up after a bunch of throws.

Good grief that Love makes the Alice look normal size.

Working my way up to normal size. Gotta wait on another gift card, then plan on trying the Jumbo Cobra next. The Alice feels big to me now. Still not used to it. Need to trim the string some too.

I was at the park throwing tops, there is grass and sandy ground there. It is fairly easy on tops, no broken tips or cracks, but there are scratches and such from small rocks and roots and stuff. I was thinking about the beating @DaneMartin tops get in the desert out there, and I wonder if they would benefit a lot from the trick Chris Neff does with heat shrinking plastic on them. I have never done it, but I think Dane could easily do it.

Get the jumbo Cobras you will 100% not be disappointed. I like my cobras more then I like any of my spin tops except for this guy. Between this and my cobras I need nothing else. I honestly don’t like my strummol8 stuff as much as I like my cobras.

The one thing I do like about the other spin tops of the hole in the top. They should come over cover of some sort. Makes it uncomfortable the way I throw to hold them
