New top. Basically a tweak to the designs of this top to print it standing on tip instead of crown:

I also tried some print settings which I don’t love. Oh well. Onward.

They look great!

Just in case anyone is looking for one, Spintricks has the Chido Delta in stock!

Looks like they have lots of nice stuff.

They have some cool stuff that you can’t buy on YYE, but shipping is about $60 and import fee is about $15 for every $100 spent. I’ve ordered a few times from them and always good to go!

I’ve never been able to convince myself to pay the high shipping… let alone tacked on fees and tariff bills.

I’m going to order one of these at some point. It’s a great price for how big they are but… My reservation is that it’s PLA+. I just wonder if that can hold up to dropping it a thousand times a day or is this top meant for performance not practice?

I was just marveling at those biggins yesterday.

Yep - I really wanted one of the Delta’s, but they were only being sold at the Mexican amazon equivalent and there was no way to have them shipped here - you can buy them directly from Chido, but shipping from Mexico to Washington state is about $140…if I buy anything with crazy shipping fees or tarifs, I typically count it against my monthly yoyo slush fund…So I haven’t bought any new yoyo’s in a couple months! What kills me is I had the S8 double tip in my sweatshirt pocket and it fell out somewhere …only bought it last month … lesson learned!

It’s 266 grams. That’s a lot of material. I haven’t made a top that large yet, but if I was going to sell a PLA+ top I would be pretty sure about impact resistance.

I’ve not had good luck printing PLA, PLA Tough (Bambu’s line of roughly PLA+) or PETG in roughly 80-100g size with no additional hardware. My PETG top probably would have survived if I had a rubber or other material spacer in between the tip and PETG body, so I think construction can probably help address impact resistance too. Also it says it’s waxed on a lathe after printing!

Compared to the Sara, that’s still lighter. And given the fact that it’s bigger, it’s very light. That part is acceptable to me. Just use the same string as the Sara but longer. (Maybe). I do want a huge top though lol. So I’m shopping around

I would like to try making larger tops but don’t have good hardware. If you know where to get some, let me know.

This top today. It’s a bearing. I don’t think I like bearings.

I have only been using bearings up till now but I’ve recently tried some good fixed tips that are growing on me. But I still really like bearing tips. I can see though how a person who’d been solely throwing fixed could be kind of put off by them. They have less “life” to them.
