Learned how to make diy cloth masks via a simple pattern and hot glue (I donāt sew, nor do I have a sewing machine), made some for my cousin who is an essential worker. Also helped one of my coworkers file for unemplyment (he had called and we walked through the process)ā¦then realized when I filed, it did not have me filling out contents he had to so now Iām a bit worried about the amount I might be receiving (it failed to ask me how many hours a week I did on average, only asked about pay for the past 3 days). I guess we shall see in a couple of weeks.

Well, good news, my job is secure during the pandemic. The bad news is that I am being temporarily transferred to the department that is doing covid-19 testing. Hopefully they train me fully as a technologist instead of just having to do lab aide work for a few months. I have a degree in molecular biology and it is kind of nice to get into the molecular biology department for a bit, but I wasnāt anticipating such a high-risk test.

Well, I do work for Quest, and yes the news sources are correct; they are extremely behind because we currently only have one machine processing samples. I hear we are getting another (honestly I think they need 2 or 3 more, but that isnāt my decision), so hopefully we can deal with our volume in the coming weeks and get results out in a more timely manner. I hope this information doesnāt violate our social media policy

honestly, you should tell them that. itās a good idea. what type of machine is it? is it big or small? fat or skinny?

Itās a pretty gigantic fat machine, roughly 9x5x5ft. The problem is that machines like this are crazy expensive, and probably in high demand across the world atm. I donāt know where it comes from. I have literally only worked 1 day in the department and didnāt know if I was going back or not (I volunteered cause forced furlough was suggested by the higher ups since nobody volunteered to be practically laid off). I figure that it is a good opportunity in the tumultuous economic situation, and honestly im glad that I can be so important. Iāll try my best to whip them into shape as soon as I can properly realize the situation.

A customer of mine that works at a nearby hardware store( a big name I wonāt say) just told me they had to take down the social distancing signs in store. This was due to someoneās claim that the signs are racist as they show a yellow figure and a white figure with 6 dashes between them, but no brown or black ones.
Because the real concern is racism and not ignorance or safety.
Sheesh.
