Finally let go of a bunch of yoyos, sniff… But managed to finish setting up the Reef aquarium. Have to confess, I think it looks pretty hot. (I need to build out the right side of the cabinet with all the electronics… That will be this weekend.)

It’ll be more of a Coral tank than a fish one. I’ll probably have no more than five or six fish. Pair of clowns, small tang, blenny, maybe a wrasse. But the focus will be on sps and LPS corals and a bubble tip anemone.

I am pretty proud of it. It’s one of those projects where you’re halfway through with the whole living room looking like a disaster, PVC solvent everywhere, random bits of cut pipe, etc. and you’re thinking… damn I am in over my ******* head. Then it comes together and it’s just so satisfying.
No fish videos yet, but I have some pretty cool videos of the plumbing and aquascape!

Hey guys! I hope you have all been keeping well?
(Wasn’t sure where was the most appropriate place to post this, so posting on here and on my trick a week thread)
I just got back from my 3 weeks vacation with my family. 
I kind of expected a lot of downtime during my trip to continue with my social media life and work on my yoyo without the normal distractions like work etc but man I was so wrong.
The whole trip has been pretty much full throttle the entire time and I think I slept less while away than I do at home, there has even been a few days straight I went without sleeping at all other than in the car during transit.
As I was with my family the vast majority of the time, I didn’t want to be on the phone the whole time, so inadvertently, it ended up being a 3 week phone & social media cleanse for me. Not gonna lie I rather enjoyed being away from the screen and I didn’t even have my phone on me most of the time, and when I did it was purely as a digital camera. Data being like $3~4 per 10mb while roaming in Asia didn’t help either so I had data switched off the whole time too.
Sorry, but not sorry I have been away for such a long time, I had an absolute blast and an amazing time.
But it is good to be back, missed being online and also good to be back at my own home.
So hello everyone! what have I missed while I was out enjoying life in the real world

Exactly one month after I received this tank on a shipping pallet, I have finally finished setting it up. I assembled the stand, replaced all the stock plumbing with custom red pvc, hacked in an Ikea cabinet, installed a networked aquarium controller with tablet interface and built the aquascape with hydraulic cement. The water is now cycling to establish the bacteria colony and I should be able to move my first fish over sometime this week.
I’m super excited to start seeding my underwater bonsai project with coral frags!
