What are you doing today?

I did that 2012 - 2017 to do art-related stuff with residents but after a couple years I didn’t bring art supplies anymore because talking was the main thing people wanted to do. I helped out the activities lady running bingo and some other things but it got down to 1 on 1 with about 5 people. Sometimes we’d play cards together as a group and sometimes I just hung out in their room to watch a movie they wanted me to see. Alot of people in those places feel deserted by family and just want to speak to an “outside” person or at least someone who is not going to take their temperature. Those are very sad places.

That’s really cool man…5 years is a lot! It’s so nice that you ended up meaning so much for them!

When covid passes you should try to get in one of those places. I just needed to get a flu shot. All places are probably different with needs. It can be a little scary for some people because of the different stages people are in. The faces and bodies may be withered but once you break through you find beyond the withered exterior is usually a person that craves some fun and conversations that do not focus on their ailments.

Realizing that I’ve been shopping at YYE for 10 years…10 years ago this week, I made my first YYE order (which was the then-new YYF Popstar). Knowing it was the holidays, I was not expecting my throw to arrive until maybe the week after. I was wrong. Fast forward to 10 years later, still experiencing that predictable, consistent quality service from here, got a couple throws arriving this week just before Xmas…so yea, just wanted to give a shout-out to YYE

Aside from that, continuing my adventures on the PS5…today, playing Sackboy: A Big Adventure. This game only makes me want to pick up LittleBigPlanet again to make my own things…loved that game 10 years ago… Will be a good avenue too for taking my mind off of the ugly that’s to come - extended shelter-in-place orders in CA (saying possibly keeping these restrictions to at least February…

Being given a giant frozen Honeysuckle turkey for Christmas.

Only to then realize it’s WAY to big to fit in your small oven.

I’m so sad! :frowning: A bunch of the stuff I ordered her 3 weeks ago, still haven’t shown up in the mail. Big bummer…but at least the 3 main items I wanted to get for her got here. A big hedgehog blanket, pillow and little garden statue.

Never did get a picture of all the items unwrapped, but here’s the small pile all wrapped up. Will leave them out on her porch late tonight

I thought I was ordering a pillow…turns out it was only a pillowcase!
It had a zipper though, so I got a bunch of fluff and stuffed it myself! lol

Honestly, I was thinking about this today and wondered if you pulled it all together. I’m glad you were able to get some of it together in time. She will be VERY happy. There’s a 5 year old boy in my building a few doors down. I left a Secret Santa gift bag outside his door - a box of Legos, a 5 pack of Hot Wheels, a 16 pack of Crayolas, two cool coloring books, and multi flavored Tic Tacs.

He stays here with his dad most of the week and then goes to his mom’s on most weekends. It’s a tiny apartment. I see how happy he is when he gets a new toy and I know he loves Legos and no one can have too many Legos!

Had to pick up a last minute xmas gift earlier, made the trek to one of the quieter Walmarts and had quite a few people annoy me - walking right behind me and not giving me my space, expecting me to move faster for them. Social distancing around here is definitely not a thing… I should have done a shoot the moon

Was supposed to go to my nephew’s for Christmas. Think I am pretty much snow stranded. May just stay home and make a pot of chili.
