What are you doing today?

My friend is home and is doing well! She just got back tonight.

We’ve known each other for many years but have started to hang out more and more over the last 2 years.
We’re planning on hanging out even more moving forward. It’ll be good for both of us.

Would she even be remotely interested in a yoyo as a way to de-stress? Just some up and down stuff?

That’s a cool idea! I don’t think she’d be interested, but who knows? I’ll offer her one tomorrow!

I’ll give her a Duncan Butterfly XT because it’s tug responsive and let her know if she’d ever like…I have another yo-yo for her and would love to show her how to bind with it!

Made more tumble sticks (found out that’s what they’re called). These ones are white oak.

I’m developing a taste for these things, they’re just fun and feel nice to hold.

Got a few more blanks prepared for turning more tomorrow.

Tell us what type of blend those are and I forgot to say that wrapping those strings on board like that is very nice!

Hey Chris,
black/red is 8 thin layers black is polyester red is cotton.
pink/blue is 4 thick layers both polyester
white/pink is 6 thin layers white is polyester pink is cotton
I just started making strings a couple weeks ago so I am experimenting with the material types.
I ordered rayon which I am very excited about since I expect it to make very silky/soft strings.
It is super relaxing and you can make matchy matchy what I love  Finally splashes also make sense to me lol
I already found out they last way longer then any bulk string I used which is nice also.

I was going to go do some volunteering at a nursing home I use to work at…but they’re not letting anyone volunteer right now due to Covid. Makes sense, I just didn’t think about it.

Darn it anyhow. I’d love to go hang out with all the lovelies. One of the things I disliked about working there is I didn’t have the time to do 1on1 with the people who lived there…my boss kept me super busy. But oh man…there’s such a huge need to have people there just to sit and visit and show that they care about them. You can feel it in the air.

Stupid Covid :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I did that 2012 - 2017 to do art-related stuff with residents but after a couple years I didn’t bring art supplies anymore because talking was the main thing people wanted to do. I helped out the activities lady running bingo and some other things but it got down to 1 on 1 with about 5 people. Sometimes we’d play cards together as a group and sometimes I just hung out in their room to watch a movie they wanted me to see. Alot of people in those places feel deserted by family and just want to speak to an “outside” person or at least someone who is not going to take their temperature. Those are very sad places.

That’s really cool man…5 years is a lot! It’s so nice that you ended up meaning so much for them!

When covid passes you should try to get in one of those places. I just needed to get a flu shot. All places are probably different with needs. It can be a little scary for some people because of the different stages people are in. The faces and bodies may be withered but once you break through you find beyond the withered exterior is usually a person that craves some fun and conversations that do not focus on their ailments.
