Well said! Sometimes people go “this is the best pad” or “all pads are the same” and I have no idea how to interpret that. String thickness, bearing choice, and gap width all factor into the choice of response pads IMO. First time I’ve heard about material though!
Of course! Was just being a wise guy
I think when people say a pad is the best, they’re probably saying it’s the pad that works well and provides a response that is to their preference on most of their yoyos, if not all, without having them to change their strings or bearings.
So while pads don’t exist in a void, there’s still something to be said about popular pads like OneDrop’s that work well in most yoyos and hence the discussion of what the best pads are still provides objective value (unlike discussions about the best yoyo, which are purely subjective).
On this note, I will say, YYF’s 6 pack set with multiple types of pads, is easily the best bang for your buck in my opinion.
You get to try out different pads, for a low cost, and find what works for you best.
I really like the natural brown pads from YYF, but been on the monkey snot because i can customize and lower the depth for smaller gap throws
I have a goji with atmos Saturn pads in it and I really like them
