Watches and so forth

Black Bay 58 is pretty much my daily. Just swapped the bracelet for this Erika’s MN strap, which I’m a big fan of.

Hoping my next watch will be a polar Explorer ii.

I mostly wear these alongside a 5610, I find collecting yoyos more fun than watches tbh.

I don’t wear it but this is Cold Fusion watch off of the auction site nearly 20 years ago

That’s awesome!

But let’s face it, has anything ever held a candle to this one?

I have one of those somewhere! Mines black though

I don’t have one anymore, but I’m tempted to go get one.

Exactly right, that price is for the craftsmanship and the technique but the figure itself is too high to ignore. Window shopping is great but man those salespeople can be snarky when they clock my brokeness.

@Hungrymushroom :100: If a watch doesn’t have any sort of life-proof, I’m not even going to look at it. I’m not a particularly active guy, but I am pretty carefree and occasionally will become active (DIY around the house, moving stuff, playing with friends, just walking really fast and carelessly in narrow-ish spaces, etc) and as I already wear hearing aids (also life-proof, finally), I don’t want yet another, expensive accessory I need to worry about.

Personally, I’m not a watch nerd persay(sp), but I do enjoy watches. However, I am a function over fashion guy and once Apple Watches became life-resistant, I switched because it’s so functional. However, I do miss wearing my Citizen Nighthawk, but then how will I calculate tip? In my head?! Pfft, like I can count higher than 4 (which, obvs comes after 9, I’m pretty sure)

It’s as life proof as anything you can get, you don’t have to charge it, it looks cool af, and you can write “80085” on it

That last part is the most functional thing a watch can do. Sure, telling time is cool I guess, but “80085” is eternal

Got this san martin on sale for 200$. They usually make homages of other brands with their branding but this is an original design by them. Quality is excellent and it keeps good time with a seiko movement.

Dude seeing that Shark watch just unlocked a core memory in my brain. I bought a Shark when I was a kid while on vacation with a friend and his family. I thought it was the coolest thing back then. I also had a White G-Shock. I wish I still had them. If they ever show up I’ll post them.

That Freestyle watch though! Those were popular when I was in high school. My brothers and had several. Back around 2000. Ohhhh the memories

I do not find myself needing a watch anymore. Since I am either at home or have a phone with me - keeping time is never a problem.

What I do see value in is the integration of my computer with the smart-watch. Now, I can move around my home or office and get alerts and messages wherever I roam.

Both of my sons work for Intel in their fab in Hillsboro. They use their smart watches all the time both for work and at-home communication. Since phones are not allowed in the fab (for security reasons); it solves many problems.

I’m looking to get one of the Black Bay Pelagos once they become a little more available at dealers. An Explorer is my dream watch.

I’m a big watch nerd. I don’t have any “big” watches. But have a collection of rarer Timex field watches, several limited edition G Shocks. A couple low to mid automatics. And, what I call my “boring” watch, an Apple watch.
