Long story short I was scared to trade or buy from over seas. I did a few not high priced but hard to get and was very pleased.
I noticed some of the older throws in some very unique color ways in great condition weee being offered up on the forum. I watched and saw most trades go off with out dust up or bad review, but I did see not very often a bad post and 1 or 2 nightmares.
So I was feeling good and decided to go for a higher priced throw in a really unique color away from overseas I should Have known by this line “I bought this new years ago I playedwith it for a day put it back in the box didn’t touch it again”. a CYLW Chief Berry Berry.
When I received the throw it has a long break in the anodizing on one rim that can be felt and a prominent group of pin pricks from a drop on concrete. Was sad would have probably still bought it but not at the price I did. I made mention to the post author, no response sad days followed. I figured that line that should have been a warning means:
“I got a CYLW Chief Barry Barry in the mail. I played with on the first day hit it on something while it was spinning and then dropped it on some concrete. I felt so bad about damaging it. I put it in the box, never to look at it again, as to not remind me of how careless I was with such a good throw.”
Why I will do it again
It is worth the it when you get a great one like the one I received from EnilLord in Poland with out an issue great price, great condition, mint with OG box could not be happier. Look for the ones from overseas. I made the deal EnilLord was a pleasure to work with.
So… who sold the damaged Chief to you? I do international deals all the time and don’t have any issues, but definitely want to avoid whoever you bought this from. Please make a post in the feedback section for the person who sold it to you, from your post it sounds like they didn’t state the damage beforehand which is a pretty big oof. Unless I’m missing something? Hope you were able to get some money back or something if that’s the case.
I had that happen with an SB-2 in turquoise. The pictures did not show the scuffs from what looks like a walk the dog. Over paid for the condition it was in. Seller never made mention of it. Never heard back from the seller. This was from fleabay,
I did buy a OD+SF-SK from a seller in London, it was in perfect condition and the best looking purple I have ever seen.
Also bought a OD Top Deck from a seller in Japan that was like new with the box.
Almost forgot about the MCMO I from Puerto Rico, seller got it out just as the last hurricane was about to hit, also in like new condition.
I would do it again, I just ask a lot more questions and ask for more pictures…
If I want something, I don’t usually care too much if it’s local or international. Great traders/sellers like Arlequin, Enilord and a few others I can’t remember make the process pretty simple. Yoyos are light so even the insane postage costs aren’t that bad when you’re getting something that’s otherwise unobtainable.
People with no feedback though…you gotta trust your gut and most times that works out ok. Something about throwing a yoyo maybe makes you a better person hopefully.
