I purchased may first responsive yoyo about 6 months ago. I have learned a few of the basic throws and tricks. I recently purchased an unresponsive yoyo. So far the only binds I have worked with are the front style bind and the under mount bind from the trapeze.
I have noticed that I get a lot more string tension in just a few throws with the unresponsive yoyo than I do with the responsive yoyo.
The tricks I can so so far are ones like the trapeze, brain twister, split bottom mount, and the plastic whip. I know a couple of ways to adjust tension with the responsive yoyo but am still working of getting better with the unresponsive yoyo. Is it normal to have more string tension with an unresponsive yoyo when performing the same tricks?
If the you are losing control and spinning the yo-yo out regularly… it is possible that the unresponsive will spin more rotations in the time it takes to recover control as well as the greater width of the unresponsive is likely much more susceptible to spinning out as a result of less than optimal throwing techniques that often trouble new throwers. These can sometimes take quite some time to overcome.
i think steve is spot on. once you get comfy and more familiar you’ll have a better time with torsion build-up and fixing it will become second nature and reflexive to where it’s more an afterthought or something you check right before you show someone your fly new slack combo
I think you are both right. It makes sense when I think about what happens when I lose control of the unresponsive yoyo. Thanks for the advice and opinions.
