Unpopular Yoyo Opinions

yo WHAT

…No.

Don’t say that about my BBs

I’m not the biggest fan of black yo-yos. I like vibrant and shiny colors

People aren’t afraid of different opinions, they just get annoyed by hearing the same thing over and over knowing nothing will change because of it.

I have a friend who hates hip hop and has told me I shouldn’t listen to it and why and how beneficial it would be to me. I have acknowledged what he has told me and disagreed with it. That didn’t make me want to stop hanging out with him. But after he said the same things, over and over and over every time we hung out even though he knew he wasn’t changing my mind and not adding anything new to the conversation, that’s when I started hanging out with him less.

That thread is the equivalent of my friend’s rant on hip hop. It wasn’t productive, it wasn’t people being afraid of other people’s opinions, it was David acknowledging those opinions, explaining why they weren’t going to change his business model, and then people turning around and going “yeah but…” and repeating the same thing. It was incredibly redundant.

I like any bright and vibrant color that is not rose gold. Not big on black either.

I think he means it’s touching the body of the yo-yo, not the axle. If it got through that tiny gap under the response area it’d probably stop the yo-yo dead. If I’m mistaken then he really has a problem :joy:

Also, @PCaliyoyos, if you’re on plane well enough, brushing the body of the yo-yo briefly really doesn’t kill spin too fast(assuming your response pads are recessed at least a tiny bit so they’re not being brushed by the string too). If you’re in motion the string will move away from the side before long, so I find it’s only a problem when I have to stop and think while working on something new, and I happen to stop while the string is all the way to one side.

Still, I prefer centering bearings, my favorite being the DS, which is a gentler centering bearing than concaves. Best of both worlds.

Are you not a purple guy either?

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I don’t like black yoyos at all. I want stuff that looks good on my trickcircles, not things that would be lost on my black background.

Also, dat rose draup tho

Oh, and yeah. Raw yoyos suck.

yeah as i said earlier i switched to concave bearings so it’s much much better and i haven’t had that problem

Not true; we had many responses direct from One Drop and they were interesting. His viewpoint seemed to be moving, as well, from “flat is the best and we will only ever use flat because reasons, if you don’t like it go pound sand” to something a bit more nuanced.

This’d be like your friend actually talking to the Hip Hop artists in question. So I think your comparison is kinda invalid, TBH.

Speaking of raw yoyos. I actually want to do a raw Hummingbird with Raw SS rings next run, but it’s gonna have disadvantages. It’s more prone to strip cause high friction and torque, high chance of machine marks, and the finish is just not up to par with beadblast. The manufacturing team actually don’t think this is justifiable on a higher end yoyo like the Hummingbird. This is why sync has raws.

The thread was already redundant before it got to bearing blanks. At that point it was clearly more “I’m personally inconvenienced by this, do something that benefits me individually” and less suggestions that could actually benefit One Drop. I don’t think there’s any way to frame that suggestion as anything but trolling. Nobody could actually take that seriously. I’m inclined to believe David’s suggestion that it’s done intentionally to get him to respond as someone with a vested interest in the forum’s existence.

Purple rocks. Anything other than rose gold really. I find raw aluminum to be high maintenance and boring. Black is boring. I like highly visible. Rose gold just really bugs me for some reason.

Selling bearing blanks benefits Luftverk, so I fail to see why the Machinists from Oregon couldn’t also benefit from selling artisanally machined bearing blanks, either:

I’d like to try them in my Deep States, you may recall the Cold Fusion came with brass bearing blanks out of the box too. Maybe they hate money, or something? IDK :man_shrugging:

Your suggestion was selling a yo-yo that wasn’t functional out of the box. Not selling bearing blanks additionally.

David has already given a definitive answer to every question that was raised: they aren’t choosing to alter their current business model anytime soon, either by selling a yo-yo with multiple bearings, with bearing blanks, or with official KonKaves, or by offering multiple bearing choices.

I really, really don’t want to start this circular argument over again so if you would like to see my potential responses just consult David’s replies in the locked thread.

Ok so… didn’t we close that thread?

Don’t worry I won’t reply again.

That wasn’t really the point of my replies; it was to get people to think outside the box a little bit. And bearing blanks should make a comeback. There’s a reason they were bundled with every Cold Fusion! I’d love to try them in my Deep State.

NB: when I first got the cold fusion (took a while to find a cheap-ish one on ebay) it actually had the brass bearing blank in it, and I didn’t notice! It performed quite well with it.
