Idk, I’m not opposed to the convention/giant yoyo-club aspect, as much as the actual competition itself. I’m not big into competitions in general. There is too much going on for me [personally] to get into them.
Not saying they are irrelevant or unimportant, just not my cup-o-tea
-No matter how much people hate the yoyo you have, if you like it and it’s fun, then you like it and it’s fun. Their opinion shouldn’t sway yours about it.
-Any clean bearing is fine
-Having fun should come first, not competitiveness (it really shows you know)
-Using glove(s) or tape doesn’t make you less of a player
-Just do what you want really, buy the things you like, as many as you like etc. It’s a subjective hobby so have fun.
Centering bearings are only for beginners … the DV888 is a great throw (i likes the one I messed with)
There is still a lot of love for responsive and fixie play.
Doesn’t Evan Nagao play with a Center Trac bearing? He’s the furthest from a beginner as you can get. Seems to me this opinion isn’t just unpopular, it is demonstrably incorrect.
I’m fairly confident everyone that competed at worlds finals used a centering bearing of some kind. Only one that might’ve used a flat is Ethan Cheung and that’s just cuz he’s on OD but I think even he most likely swapped to a centering bearing
I’ve seen some people be like ‘‘Just get used to the burn’’ and some new players not wanting to use glove/tape because of reasons (might be because they see people playing bare in pretty much every video, not counting some pros, or they don’t actually want to, idk).
I thinks that it’s not just seen as ‘‘cool’’ y’know.
I’m fairly new to the scene, so I have a very tiny sample size, so it might not be an unpopular opinion.
I really don’t know. So I put it up there just in case just as a reminder.
