Triple Crown will be ongoing, and will continue to get bigger and better. Finalizing the iPhone app this weekend, still have some excellent giveaways from sponsors that we’ll be running contests for through Facebook and Twitter, we’ll be confirming venues in September, and should have all of our sponsors lined up and be ready to announce full details on everything by January 1st.
BAC is going back to Stu, Nathan, & Paul for next year. We’ve decided that absorbing existing contests isn’t really a benefit and really just confuses people with regards to what we’re trying to accomplish. While we have nothing but love for the NYYL and the people behind it, we aren’t part of that contest system and don’t really want to be…so better to separate ourselves entirely and not cause confusion by overlapping events.
Boston & Chicago will continue, though…mostly likely in the same venues.
Not sure yet…still have to get the manufacturing timeline finalized before we can determine pricing. Other vinyl figures that are hand-painted and produced in similar quantities (40 - 50 pieces only!) run in the $65 - $100 range, though.
But heads up, yo-yo players will be battling vinyl toy collectors for these. And Chris’ collectors are fast and fearsome when it comes to his limited edition toys…
Oh, OK. I heard something like Stu told me that he might get it back next year, so this clears it up. But I’m glad and happy that Triple Crown of YoYo is continuing. It was really fun at BAC and you guys did a good job! So it’s cool that it’s continuing for 2012!
No way…we love the Northeast! But Fanueil Hall changed ownership and none of our contacts work there anymore.
Chicago will be the only event this year…we’re scaling back a little because holy moly running three contests back to back is WAY too much work for only three people. So we’re scaling down a little and grouping while we tinker with the format and build up our non-yoyo sponsorships.
But, in the meantime…
2012 Chicago event is July 27th & 28th. Prelims are at the contest hotel the night before, and after-party is on Saturday at Rotofugi.
Full details are on the website at http://www.triplecrownyoyo.com. Online registration and music upload will be up soon!
Also, the first vinyl figure of the Triple Crown Monster is being released at San Diego Comic Con! This is a HUGE deal for us, and we’re incredibly stoked to have such amazing promotional partners!
Standing seven inches tall (and eight inches wide!) the Triple Crown Monster is manufactured and distributed by Squibbles Ink + Rotofugi and is hand-painted in the USA in small, limited editions.
This unpainted blue version is a limited edition of just 25 pieces and will be available at San Diego Comic Con Booth 4736 for $85 (tax included).
