hey y’all. Considering picking up a no jive but all this talk of them not playing too great unless you mess with them got me concerned. From what I understand certain jives play better than others?
There’s a black one on usastrojax rn for a good price and i’m tempted even though the paint job really isn’t my thing.
Can someone run me through the basics of how to set one of these yoyos up? Will almost always be playing with it in butterfly mode.
MINE MINE MINE - Lol! There’s some really rare Olympics on there right now, buy the price is astronomical… especially given the state of the world right now
Fat Cat is such a weird yo-yo. I do think it’s fun, but the Tom Cat has a far more functional profile. FC rims are so flat you can almost stall the string on them and it makes a little tactile “plop” you can feel when you land a mount just a bit off-center. I probably do prefer the FC, but I would certainly say the TC is objectively a better and more classic yo-yo design.
It’s definitely a close call for me, but I like the Tom Cat just a little bit more than the Fat Cat. I don’t know what it is about the TC that makes me want to play it more often than the FC. I just like the feel of the TC over the FC. They’re both awesome though.
Does anyone have any info on the Olympic Club “A Good Sport Always Wins” yoyo? I only have found a pic of it, in this forum from the pic of Tom Kuhn’s personal collection.
Mine has the booklet that says What’s Next MFG 1996. Any information would be great though.
Hey all - I’ve been a TK collector for some time now. I got my first TK 3-in-1 back in 1988 from my parents for my birthday. It was the Starburst Mandala and I still have it (it’s in bad shape though). Since then I’ve collected on and off over the past three decades. I was chatting with Ed about my collection and he inspired me to take some photos to share. So, here’s my lot:
My standard 3-in-1 No Jive models. All of these were commercially available rom Tom Kuhn or one of the online yo-yo stores over the years. I was lucky to buy the inventory of a mall stand of yo-yos back in the 90s and get many of these for a deep discount.
Other standard commercially available Tom Kuhn Yo-yos (and some choice BC yo-yos). A couple of these I got through eBay but most came from the online stores like Infinite Illusion or YoyoNation (RIP to both). The Silver Bullet was a birthday gift in 1991.
My Heirloom set. I got this off of eBay after years of wanting to find one. I’d almost completed a ‘build my own’ set by the time I found this one. Super excited to have these in my collection.
I put a bid on them and lost, never went too crazy on price. Then after the auction of one of them ended the seller offered me a “buy it now” at my bid price. Not sure if they have extra or maybe a winning bid flaked.
