It should be fine as it’s inside the cups rather than on the part that gets handled.
You can paint most anything - plastic, wood, metal as long as you prep the surface properly.
Threw a bit more paint on and cleaned the middle. The paint is thinned down so it flows nice, but its permanent, so no worries.
