Thoughts on the Turning Point MSG

This one looks really cool and would love to hear your thoughts about it

Narrow by modern yoyo standards and also very heavy, so it might catch you off-guard unless you practice with it consistently. That being said, it’s a lot of fun and would probably make a good 3a yoyo. Even then, for 1a it will still work just fine if you are very precise with where you place your string. If you’re new to yoyoing I wouldn’t recommend it, but it’s a nice, unique throw overall.

I have a pretty broad selection of TPs in my collection now, but MSG was my introduction to their lineup

Throwing it was a revelation and completely changed my taste in yoyos. Now I’m always interested in checking out the heaviest throws. I edc my MSG and have a secondary that I keep on the shelf at home

If you have the means to pick one up (definitely check around on bst) I would absolutely recommend giving it a shot!

Is it good for 1a / 5a? The shape seems a bit narrow and the weight is quite a lot

Too narrow? Too heavy? I’d argue those two characteristics are what makes the MSG great. There are countless mid weight, 50mm throws floating around nowadays. The MSG is something entirely different and that’s what makes it special

probably not for 5a since you generally care about the weight ratio between yoyo and counterweight, and most 5a players prefer wider shapes

that being said nobody will stop you and it’s not like it wont work or be fun :stuck_out_tongue:

If it was wider it would be amazing at 5a. For 1a though it’s not bad. Just takes a bit to get used to.

Could you also send some pictures of the yoyo?

Looks great!

I have seen it be used for 5a by Yuta Kashiwaya
