I threw quite a bit in my youth, mostly the 60s. After a career in chemistry, I started teaching at a high school in Florida. One of my math students always had one or more yoyos with him and used his spare time making throws. I looked at his modern yoyos and was amazed at both them and his skills. I started playing with some old responsive yoyos I had in a box and started picking up yoyos whenever I saw something unusual in my travels.
Now that I am retired, I have started playing in earnest. I have purchased several new yoyos both modern non-responsive and nice versions of responsive yoyos.
I am pretty much learning from the ground up.
