Never had anyone ask me if there’s a motor or claim anything but amazement (“I could never do that, I would just get knots” is a common way of expressing that). You REALLY have real people watch even a simple trick like Gondola and say “I could do that.”
Young kids don’t count. They also think their dad could beat up your dad.
“Wooden yoyos are the best”. Also “My friend is totally better than you”
I hate when people say. I know a guy that can do that. you ask what? he says around the world or walk the dog And asks you if you can do that after you just get done doing ladder escape.
I think it’s gotta be mostly kids. Because I’ve never met any adult or young adult who was anything but amazed, and I’m not even any good! =)
I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone say this to me, but I’ve definitely had looks that communicate this exact expression. Ah well, they’re not worth the energy worrying about what they think, yoyoing is awesome!

I guess they see a lot of yoyoing, in cartoons for example, in moments when a caracter is bored/ waiting for something…
never say to a yoyoer"why isn’t it attached to the string?" or the stupidest question “did you break your string?” Most of these questions are asked after I throw an offstring yoyo.
I forgot one of the most common thing (for me) it’s “don’t hit me with your yoyo”
You have to cut people a break on this one, though. The average person has no idea that 4a exists, it’s never even crossed their mind as a possibility. You’ll always blow minds with offstring. =)

Kendama is evil. It brainwashes. It takes over. We are many, yet we are also small. :o
Maybe it’s just me but…The message I get after reading this thread is: “Don’t say anything to yoyoers. They’re easily annoyed.” 
We get easily annoyed when we talk to non thrower’s about throws cuz they have no idea what there talking about literally. But if I talk to people about non yoyo stuff I’m just fine.

I wonder if other people get annoyed when they talk to us about things we don’t know anything about, literally. I hope not. It’s kind of sad. Talking to people, in the know, is my most preferred method of learning. There are still so many things I’ve yet to discover and explore.
Very ture we probably bore them with all our yoyo talk 
It always comes down to how much a yoyo costs and that’s when I get ugly comments.
