Just out of curiosity, how long do you think it will take for all 500 to be sold?
I strongly suspect that @codinghorror’s estimate of demand and everyone else’s estimate are vastly different.

I have no idea, I am aware that this is a very large drop. I just really want to get one. I have tried to get Gsquared drops before and was nowhere near successful so I’m just trying to be proactive on this since lots of people are interested in it.

I would be pretty shocked if this sold out in a week or two. MAYBE one of the colors will but definitely not all of them.
One it’s a huge run and two there’s so many people that don’t even know this project is a thing yet

I hear you. I only look for G2s from BSTs, precisely because I don’t Instagram, I don’t Patreon, and I don’t hover over drops hoping to be one of a “lucky few”. However, if G2 had production runs of 500 units I’m pretty confident you’d have no trouble getting one, even if you waited a while.

It’s not really a good analog though because the G2 drops are different colorways. You definitely would not want 500 “snozberry” Dire Wolves to drop, trust me

What is a typical G2 production run for a given model (when you account for all the colorways)? Surely it isn’t as high as 500!

I think they’ll take a few days to a week to sell out.

I’m pretty sure it’s usually in the teens, if that. In addition, even if he had a run of say, 50 or so, he generally releases them in batches of like 10-20 as he can get them assembled, siliconed, and tested.
I know he experimented with larger drops last year but I think he said on his vlog that those were significantly harder for him to find time to do with work, family, etc.
With G2, you can sometimes get lucky with stock remaining a few hours after drop to the next day. Snagged my AL7 Direwolf several hours after the drop. It’s seldom but it happens.
Regardless, I agree that it’s likely to take a few days or so for this to sell out. One Drop drops large batches across multiple retailers and you can often get first runs of those weeks to months after the drop, and I’d bet money the total # of units for those don’t surpass 500.

Not sure how long it will take for all 500 to sell out, but my guess is that no less than 100 will be bought on release day. 300 in a week, 500 in a month. The raw colorway will be last to go. These are my guesstimates.

You could be right!
And if you are that indicates two things to my mind:
- 500 was not enough.
- But still enough that nobody (who wants one today) has to worry about “missing out” if they don’t order one on the first day (or week even).
