Yes I would like to see anyone try Janos’s style and create as many tricks as you can, then you will understand how innovative Janos is.
Dude is awesome. He brings something different to the Worlds stage that I think it needed. He proved that you don’t have to just go blazingly fast to win. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE watching faster tech you see in more of the Asian countries, and Chia is one of my favorites, but there is no way I could give him the win over Janos this year. The stuff he came out with was just so cool looking, so smooth, and so enjoyable to watch. To each their own, everyone thats up that high at worlds is great and could win on any given day, but Janos was best on the day it counted.
Finally got to see Janos’s performance. This is a big step in a different direction. This wasn’t the string banging speed demon stuff I’m used to seeing finishing top place. I did see a lot of style and personality in the performance though. This was just a different kind of mastery. I think part of that might be due to the fact that perhaps Europeans have a different style than the Asians, and even in the Americas.
I haven’t seen #2 and #3 performances yet. I do know that watching Hiroyuki Suzuki’s performance, I was really let down by it. It’s like he brought his A-game, but then lost it when he was having problems early on and never really recovered after that first change-out. I knew after that first change-out, Top 5 finish wasn’t a possibility.
I’m still trying to download videos. Watching them directly off YouTube is pointless. It took all night to get Janos’s video to download. I swear, having a 14.4kps dial-up connection over a PPP or even SLIP connection would be faster.
Definitely deserved the first place!
Can someone please specify what song Janos used at the end of his freestyle (The one everyone, including me, was clapping during?)
I think it is the instrumental part of “The State of Massachusetts” by Dropkick Murphys. It might have been edited to lengthen that part or have the vocal track removed, though. I’m not sure if his version is available anywhere or if it was done privately for his performance.
Ahhh now I remember what I heard it on. It’s also the theme for Nitro Circus!
Thanks a lot ^.^

Yep
So you claim that doing the same tricks faster is harder than doing many different tricks in completely different ways?
You clearly mocked him by sarcastically saying “he avoided knots in new, breathlessly exciting and novel ways” when that clearly is not true.
And once again, the numerous comments on youtube, facebook, and yoyoexpert provide enough evidence that it is not too difficult to make out the intricacy. since when was the standard for what is impressive in yoyoing based on what a layman would think? Any yoyoing on that kind of level would impress a layman if they were to see it; just because some “showbanger” tricks impress non-yoyoers more doesn’t mean those tricks are particularly better.
I think Janos Karanz did a nearly impossible freestyle. Probably the best I’ve seen too.
Nothing is even “nearly impossible” with lots practice, LOL.
True, but that was amazing.
