Who do you think will be the future for competitive 2a now that most of the greats have stopped competing? Interested to hear opinions, but my money is on Hajime Sakauchi atm
There is always ‘somebody else’.
It doesn’t matter who fades out……. ‘Batter Up’?
The ‘future’ is every second after the moment you ask a question.
The future of competitive 2A is promising simply because there are amazing 2A players that will step into the spotlight as people ‘step out of that same light’.
Great point to make I just thought the active player base for 2a seemed to be dwindling slightly and am trying to find as many up and comers as I can to see what the competition will be like. I agree, as soon as someone steps out of the spotlight, more people who are even more creative step in, like a metaphorical yo-yo hydra lol
Note: Hiraku is a legend and is still active and just won the last online worlds.
Definitely wouldn’t say ALL the greats have stopped.
As far as I know, Takuma Yamamoto is still active as well.
I feel Yuki Takami is going to be at the top worlds level this next year as he’s truly been putting in the grind for it.
Oh for sure Hiraku Fuji is at the top of the game and so is Yuki. I wouldn’t say Takuma is that active at the moment as he hasn’t been to Japan nationals in 2 years and isn’t attending regionals this year, he is still my favourite 2a player though. Hiraku is going to be a major contender if he competes at worlds
