Just to parrot Mark’s comments, I’ve used Dragon’s for a long time. When Toxic said they were going to stop making strings I went on a crusade and bought up as many Dragon’s as I thought I’d use for the rest of my playing days And have since bought more from Mark, mainly his new formulas.
They, Dragon’s especially IME, last forever. I’ve gotten 2 years out of 1 string. I’ve never tried them on fixies. I personally don’t like poly on wood axles. It sheds too much, and when I go back to cotton there is a ton of little strands left on the axle and it ends up making the axles super responsive afterwards. Just do not like poly on wood axles. However, I do use them on my butterfly’s and other responsive yoyos.
Yeah what’s been funny about the boutique poly revolution w wood is the string doesn’t melt and snap, but it DOES leave a residue which just CLINGS to wood axles and really changes their play characteristics (which is almost worse)! Getting the little filaments off of walnut axles is really tough.
I’ve been trying my best to keep post #2 up-to-date, can everyone take a look and let me know if I missed any yoyos that have come out recently, or are coming out, so that I can add them to the list.
