Hey, when I got back into throwing a few years ago I was only using my 90s collection in particular a henry’s viper, a team losi silver series da bomb and my sb2. I’d say you might like the viper, it has an adjustable gap so it’s decent for 0a and 1a. I used it more for 1a play myself tho. Thinking about it, it was a pretty good throw for its time.
Just ordered one along with its wood fixed axle system. With adjustable gap, turbo discs, or gaffer’s tape (for diy), I do have options. Was looking at the Cobra (plastic variant with dimple response) as well but they were out of stock.
Ug. He keeps making stuff I want! Prolly be 2 more weeks till I can scrape together the money… Dreaming of one of these in the black & yellow laminate, since the shape makes me think: ProYo/Bumblebee. Got an idea for a custom Otter too I can’t wait to see what he does with it!
Sounds awesome! The ply should have a great weight to it as well! Cant wait to see it
Posted pic in the “mail day 2026 thread” but thought I’d share here as well as I bought this for 0a.
Impressions on a Henry’s Viper AXYS so far - I was worried that its response would be not that great and would have to resort to turbo discs or gaff tape pads (gaff tape works really well if you have the patience to cut it). Out of the box this pretty much has that “fixed axle snap” I was after. Why on earth did I want to do a Viper for 0a? Well, I’ve been on a 90s yoyo kick lately, starting the year with a Renegade, Bumble Bee, Cold Fusion. Next in line had to be the iconic Viper that also caught my attention in the 90s with its rubber shells. I know the Viper was really designed for 4a but most 4a throws today are wide, like mini diabolos. The Viper’s narrow and high walled, making it perfect for a large 0a throw with squishy rubber rims ![]()
The Viper is on the larger side of the spectrum (I think 65mm) and it feels like it plays slower/more chill due to its size, and carries its momentum due to its size even for being only 53 grams. Haven’t had to mess with adding any lube, currently running it screwed together all the way (adjustible gap) along with some fat string and it’s been predictable response. Moons great too! And much to my surprise, while not sharp like today’s spikes, I can still pull start this thing as well as do some responsive tornados. Definitely having a blast with this unique piece.
My first 3n1 is on the way! Super stoked!
Happy fixed, axle every day my friends.
I’m really excited to share the latest edition of the family.
Thanks to our friend I get to carry on the life of this No Jive.
Sundays with the wife are for rest and relaxation.
No jive thanks to @edhaponik
Spreading love and joy to my fellow throwers today. Bless ![]()
