Worlds 2025 needs a 0A Division.
I can’t get to Prague but we could do like a pop up fixie horse game at a contest easy
Yo do y’all have a recommendation for a string that really really really holds its shape well? I wanna do some tricks where you go for a kickflip but crab claw catch the yoyo and the loop stays open on it’s own. Then I can drop suicide out or do a million things. Having trouble getting it to work though like I need some super stiff strings that won’t flop over or unwind the loop. I have some silk strings my buddy made that would work but I only have a few left and I don’t think I can get more. They’re also a bit thick for 0A. Just curious. I feel like I’ve seen someone do a trick like I described but maybe not, I can’t recall.
Hmmm maybe i can try a higher walled narrow gap yoyo like an imperial and that might be the little bit of extra support I need to get the effect to work…hmmm I will experiment.
Higher-walled could be good if I’m picturing what you’re putting down. Might not even need to change string. You ever throw a power trapeze stall and the yoyo kind of locks itself into place on the string, almost like a pocket-watch trick? I imagine that would give you a similar effect to grab the throw from there but keep the loop in place.
I have played around with making my own string for just this purpose. With some success. I can talk more about this but…
Some string manufacturers are a little bit starchier let’s say than others. That’ll give you a bit of an advantage.
However, you know my style and for me I actually prefer a worked in string, then a new string. Maybe use one a little longer let your hand oils get on it and it’ll lose its bounce. Then you’ll notice an advantage for maintaining its shape. Maybe.
You’re on to something for sure with the high while yoyo.
I will say though my personal experience I don’t like to lock the string with a hard trapeze. I find I lose control if the loop is actually locked on like that, this does happen then I go straight for a re throw.
Good luck
Oooh interesting I definitely like to abuse the locking from a hard throw for certain tricks hmmm like thats the only way I’ve been able to get multi kickflips to work like more than one rotation then catch. Regular kickflips and like everything else I prefer unlocked tho fwiw hmmm
Oh okay.
Yeah, I can see an advantage of locking on for very specific ones like that, yeah. Good point
Multiple kickflips do slip down, then it gets harder. Multiple flips… Yeah
Well this would explain why I have struggled with those. So yeah, I never lock it.
Outside of the Summit, and maybe the WMM, Snowtires will not work in OD’s. They’re too wide. Deeperstate, like all newer OD’s, use flowgroove pads or you can use flowable silicone if you wanted.
Not sure if this helps with the specific trick you have in mind, but if you do a half kickflip and grab the yoyo with the loop upside down it will stay open. From there you can flip out, spin into a mindbender stall, do a backhand balance and flip out, catch in a hans rocks stall, catch in a takeshi rocks stall… If you need the loop to stay upright and open idk, but I have had really dirty string get stiff like that and keep a loop open upright lol.
Aha! So that’s the secret to Jerrod’s mind-bending tricks!
Nah, you’re just too awesome.
Psh, you are!
So was it the Imperial or did you starch your string??
Hell yeah! That was sick dude!
Nah a ghost was holding the string up.
You and your ghost should go for duos at Nat’s next year!
Everything in the Australian Made section is by myself or Glen. Without the patronage of Team Offset, and the support from Phong and Glen I wouldn’t have taken this seriously enough to reach the point where I’m at.
At some point Brandon will do a special on the Aussie timber in their collection. As far as I know it’s already filmed and is in the stack of vids to be edited and posted, but they’re busy with own new lineup to promote. Keep an eye out for Offset blue Leatherjackets in their new vids as well, made them a custom set for Christmas.
Should I run a contest?
Anyone who can count all my throws in the Aussie section, I’ll send you a prize. That’s just the top shelf of 4 or 5
