I love my family. But when Christmas time or my birthday comes around they know I’m not yoyos so they go onto Amazon and they buy a yoyo that looks cool to them and they think I will like. everytime it is a washiboo or whatever the heck crappy chinese yoyo. same with the strings my mom insists on getting the box of like 75 magic yoyo strings and then gets upset when I go through them in like a week. That being said I don’t want them to stop buying yoyo stuff in general. how do you convince your friends and family not to buy you the Chinese yoyo and get one off of like yoyo factory or some other mainstream site without being rude?

Mention specific yoyo brands. That way they can google them when looking for presents for you. I ended up with a C3 Krown one year from my wife with that strategy.
My brother gave me a box of old, beat up Coke yoyos for Christmas once, thinking they were awesome and I’d love it. Lol.
I did actually love it, even though the yoyos were really not my cup of tea.

My fam uses apples notepad to make gift lists with links to specific things, very handy come gift giving season.

Every day tell them a new fact about the brands you like lol they might get annoyed but after 20+ days of random facts about one brand they will remember the name.

Same, my wife is afraid to buy me yoyos because she feels that “You know so much better what you like that I do and I’d only disappoint you with my gift”
I’ve told her 1000+ times this isn’t true. She picked out a yoyo for me ONCE and I cherish it.

This is our strategy too. It’s perfect because we all know everyone is looking for. I put specific links to websites for a bunch of yo-yos I’m after. That way they can pick the one they think is cool. I’m super excited with which ever they pick. I ended up with Theodore for Christmas!!

I got a pretty solid Temu yo for Xmas that plays really well for its price. Bonus points for the cat engraving.

I would just try to hint at buying from YYE by telling them it’s an official yoyo store and they have a much wider selection. The string quality is much better and you won’t burn through them as fast. Really sell it to them haha!
The giftcard idea was a good one too! My dad did that for me a few times back when Infinite Illusions was around. He knew what yoyos cost but didn’t know what all I was into so he’d get me a couple of giftcards so I could buy whatever I wanted. This seems like it would be the best option for you.
