going to have to try that today. I like a little sping in my string
I assume for pretwisting you do like 4 wraps and spin and do 3 wraps on another anchor thing and spin then put it together and spin?
That’s one way.
I did one like that. Another with each pass persisted. Another with each pass pretwisted and then each 2 of these twisted as well.
Many ways to implement this tech
Yeah, slip knots on hooks on rigs will well… slip
U dont rlly have to pretwist
I’ve found that though not necessary, many companies do pretwists. It must serve some function even beyond color grouping.
There are benefits to it, although I don’t quite remember. I think it might hold tension better?
My trials did not result a springy string. In fact they had that this at the end of the string.
May have been the thread type used as it has had that type of result before. No worries, I’ve got other flavors.
With my strings I’ve been making, I feel like I really need to buy some trilobal and put it in there because it has no slack capabilities whatsoever. Does anyone know if there is a way to make spun polyester actually good for slacks besides thread mixing?
It may be the thread brand your using. I’ve yet to use trilobal, but have noticed that different brands(and the mixing of them) do/don’t whip or slack well.
Switch it up. See what happens.
I think it just makes it easier to wind? I think ppl do that to nylon so that it doesn’t look like a big piece of cotton candy if so, no point in doing it to poly
This was the result of pretwisting. I believe it definitely makes the color twist more candy cane ish although not 100% candy cane.
Yeah I just read about it more, and it looks like its main function is to separate the colors
One thing I noticed immediately was that it felt a little bit coarser than my non pretwisted with the same material. I also was landing my hooks more with the pretwisted, although that probably has nothing to do with it.
Hm I’d just say do whatever you like better
Nice stuff
Thank you @yoCHOPPA i wish i had a better camera…or a light box Hey Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today
Is it possible to make a fade string without a rig? I have 2 shelf’s that have two anchor points on one, so idk if that’s enough material for a fade.
