This keeps happening to my yoyo(the string doesn’t fully twist to the bearing and opens up) and it gets all unresponsive. Does anyone know how to fix this? (if I try to twist it fully it just goes back to this point.

from what i can see, that is string tension. You can go ahead and search a “yoyo string tension” video to help you understand it.

yes.
Being left handed every time you throw a normal gravity pull the string get looser. So you need to learn a few throws that tighten the string. Learn loops and Sidewinders to the left, these tighten your string. There is left handed string out there, but its not everywhere. You should also look up “string tension” as mentioned by @EthanV
