I just got back from my whole trip and… oh man, I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve been yoyoing since 2009 and have been to multiple contests including a few Nats, but this was my first ever Worlds and it was everything I thought it would be and more
It was BEYOND cool to finally meet people I’ve known online for years, I loved talking with literally every single person I met, so if you’re tagged right here just know I really enjoyed meeting you even if it was super brief. I wish I could’ve talked to everyone for wayyy longer, and I REALLY REALLY wish I took pics with more people/everyone here, but we’ll get it next time - Worlds is insanely overwhelmingly busy and there’s no shortage of things to do/people to talk to. @theendofcake @KirbyRobot @mable @cayce @chrisnotes86 @skysurveil @GTDropKnot @Shwa @yoyo_cubicle I love you cats and hopefully I see you guys again soon!
Was also awesome to see people I’ve met in the past and of course everyone from my club back home, DXL Crew. Hopefully I got everyone, I’m going off the dome here and I talked to a crazzzyyy amount of people so I’m super sorry if I missed you lol
Now it’s time for some pics!
Picked up Justin’s new yoyo, the Duncan Evolve, which released on day 1 of the contest. IMO, it has dethroned the Spotlight Ultra as the best value performance monometal. Congrats to our National Champ on bagging 6th in the World, that’s absolutely insane and I’m proud to call him a friend.
Hanging w/ @KirbyRobot & @theendofcake before Stargazing Night (which was by far the best/most fun part of any yoyo contest I’ve ever been to… we NEED it to be a yearly thing)
@fradiger was the MVP of the night, he just walked up to me and handed me my fav beer, it was awesome and hilarious at the same time
And you know I had to get a pic with the WORLD CHAMP
The best yoyo I used at the contest and DEFINITELY the best yoyo I’ve ever used, the W1LD Tilderness (Ti version of the Wilderness, this one is blasted titanium). I couldn’t resist copping.
The full Worlds haul. Definitely didn’t anticipate dropping quadrupe digits on yoyos at the contest… but it was my first Worlds so you know we had to ball out
From L to R-ish: FG Bear Trap, Metal Peakhand 28S, Plastic Peakhand, FH1 WYYC 2024 Edition, Shutter Elite, Evolve, CLYW Kendama
Tilderness, Canopy Ti
The Tilderness & Canopy Ti are just on a whole other level of yoyo tbh. I don’t normally associate titanium with being super performant, but I heard from so many people that used these that they are the best Ti’s they’ve played by a lot. Super proud to own them!
All in all, what an awesome time. After the contest my fiancée and I went onto Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright house 3 hours away in PA, saw family in PA, and then drove to NYC where we spent a couple days and went to a couple jazz clubs. Major thank you to Steve Brown and everyone who helped make the contest happen, it’s obviously an insanely huge undertaking but I know everyone I talked to had just the best time, so we all very much appreciate it! Not sure if I’m going to Prague but I wanna make it to Japan for sure and will absolutely be in Cleveland again in 3 years. See you there!
also Stargazing every year pls
