Worlds Appreciation Thread

Worlds 2024 was my first Yoyo contest and I just wanted express my gratitude to some people for making it such a wonderful experience. Thank you @unklesteve and the rest of the IYYF for putting on such an amazing event! It was incredibly inspirational to see so many players together. Thank you to everyone there, pushing out good vibes and being stoked to watch the best players in the world perform. I also want to say thank you to all the sponsors for supporting the event. I know worlds wouldn’t have been so successful without y’all. Thank you as well to all the judges. Y’all really have a hard job and I salute you all. Idk I guess I’m sentimental but it was just really cool and y’all deserve an applause.

I made this a topic so y’all forum friends can add to it or share what worlds meant to you. This is a sweet community and it’s awesome that we can come together to celebrate playing with a spinning toy.

This was also my first experience at Worlds and I had an absolute blast!
I agree that everyone there, from the players, to the vendors, and everyone in the crowd, was just absolutely amazing!
Good vibes all around, everyone was just so excited and happy to be there, it was an incredible experience.
I was able to get some pictures and talk to some of my favorite players too! Memories that will never be forgotten.

I’m glad I got to meet @Shwa @yoyo_cubicle and @Lido! I wanted to meet @OhDavidBowie and some of the other faces I’ve seen around the forums for a while now, but there was just too much to do and too many people to hang out with :sob: I guess this just means I really need to get my butt down to the Cincinnati club meetup at some point.

Meeting up with @fradiger and @theendofcake was super awesome too. They spurred my two yoyo acquisitions at the event, with a Bear Trap and Vanguard, so now these are my special yoyo buddy throws. And shoutout to @IoSonoFormaggio for teaching me some super swag 1A slacks.

@GTDropKnot is a beast and getting to chill and throw with him is always a treat. Immaculate yoyo vibes.

Dreamcraft gang is on the up and up. @suspense and @cayce are the absolute biggest chillers imaginable and getting to hang out in person was unreal.

Shoutouts to Seth who was tossing out those incredibly sick 3D printed string tool things. I filmed a yoyo trick tutorial for some incredibly stupid but awesome 5A tech mount. So I’m excited people are gonna see that, but also the amount of use I got out of this pick at the event was kinda nutty. This thing rules.

I got to meet Samm Scott who is one of my 5A legend players and saw insane 5A tech in person.

Kendama players are also crazy, I didn’t get their handle, but a Hong Kong yoyo player (Matthew? (sorry I’m bad at remembering names and faces :sob: )) got me to pick up a kendama and we filmed double kendama tricks together. I have never filmed a kendama trick before, but seeing a kendama player just shove one into my hand and then be willing to teach me some stuff AND wanna film a double trick together kinda ruled. It actually made me wanna get my own kendama. It almost makes me feel like yoyo players like me could learn a thing or two from kendama players about getting people hyped on yoyoing.

I would’ve liked to have met more of my international friends there, but traveling is just so expensive right now, so here’s my excuse to get my butt over to more international contests so I can meet them in their countries.

I’m hoping to see some familiar faces as well as meet a lot of new people in Prague next year.

That was my first contest but it was an absolute blast. Thanks to all the people who made it so good. This was just sorta off the cuff so I apologize for typos and scrambled thoughts, or for all the stuff I forgot to mention.

I’m afraid I had a bit too much fun at Stargazing, lol. Lesson learned for next time!
For real though, it was great to meet you and all of the other awesome people behind the YYE Forum avatars I’m so used to interacting with.

Worlds 2024 was such a fun experience! Shared a room with two amazing homies @MattC ane @ohmm3ga who made the weekend such a treat. Got to meet a ton of forum friends like @GTDropKnot, @Shwa, @LX_Emergency, @SR1, @suspense, @Lido, @Winter.Wolf, Brady, Jacob and I know there are more that I’m forgetting. Got to meet and chat with some incredible yoyo professionals, and got a photo with the GOAT Hajime Miura! Watching the contest routines live was so incredible, the room was electric and many performances were goosebump worthy. Had the chance to get dinner with the G2 Yoyos team and bossman, which was a real pleasure getting to meet them all and chat like old friends. Shared a super unique G2 prototype that was received super well by all that played it, the Area 51. Got to spend an evening hanging out and chatting with @jeremypark from Zipline and somehow he is even cooler in person than I could have imagined. Bought way too many yoyos: CanopyTi, CLYW Swan, CLYW Campfire (Gift from the homie Brady), Freshly Dirty Orchid, Mega Monster, Duncan x CLYW Peakhand, G2 Area 51, and a special unreleased treat ;). Also gave away few beautiful G2 and Zipline strings to some up and coming young kids that I met through the weekend, I really love supporting the next generation. Ended the weekend at WWE Summerslam which was ridiculously fun lol.

Cant wait for the next contest I get to go to, this community is such a blessing and I’m so happy to be a part of it.

Super thankful to have been able to make it to worlds this year. Not only did I have a blast hanging out with friends, but also to help shoot Canopy Stargazing along with the contest itself. Thats not even mentioning all the folks I finally had the chance to meet IRL.

It was legendary and I cannot wait till next year. Edit soon

I’ve been to quite a few worlds over the past 24 years and this was probably the best one I’ve been to and lived to tell about it. I was able to hang with friends I haven’t seen in 5 or more years. Plus I managed to put together a positive scoring freestyle for the first time ever.

Yo I also wanna shoutout MC CHENG!!! Being an MC for such a long all day event like that day after day is absolutely insane and he did a fantastic job! Got the crowd so hype and really helped shape the whole vibe in there.
