I’m glad I got to meet @Shwa @yoyo_cubicle and @Lido! I wanted to meet @OhDavidBowie and some of the other faces I’ve seen around the forums for a while now, but there was just too much to do and too many people to hang out with I guess this just means I really need to get my butt down to the Cincinnati club meetup at some point.
Meeting up with @fradiger and @theendofcake was super awesome too. They spurred my two yoyo acquisitions at the event, with a Bear Trap and Vanguard, so now these are my special yoyo buddy throws. And shoutout to @IoSonoFormaggio for teaching me some super swag 1A slacks.
@GTDropKnot is a beast and getting to chill and throw with him is always a treat. Immaculate yoyo vibes.
Dreamcraft gang is on the up and up. @suspense and @cayce are the absolute biggest chillers imaginable and getting to hang out in person was unreal.
Shoutouts to Seth who was tossing out those incredibly sick 3D printed string tool things. I filmed a yoyo trick tutorial for some incredibly stupid but awesome 5A tech mount. So I’m excited people are gonna see that, but also the amount of use I got out of this pick at the event was kinda nutty. This thing rules.
I got to meet Samm Scott who is one of my 5A legend players and saw insane 5A tech in person.
Kendama players are also crazy, I didn’t get their handle, but a Hong Kong yoyo player (Matthew? (sorry I’m bad at remembering names and faces )) got me to pick up a kendama and we filmed double kendama tricks together. I have never filmed a kendama trick before, but seeing a kendama player just shove one into my hand and then be willing to teach me some stuff AND wanna film a double trick together kinda ruled. It actually made me wanna get my own kendama. It almost makes me feel like yoyo players like me could learn a thing or two from kendama players about getting people hyped on yoyoing.
I would’ve liked to have met more of my international friends there, but traveling is just so expensive right now, so here’s my excuse to get my butt over to more international contests so I can meet them in their countries.
I’m hoping to see some familiar faces as well as meet a lot of new people in Prague next year.
That was my first contest but it was an absolute blast. Thanks to all the people who made it so good. This was just sorta off the cuff so I apologize for typos and scrambled thoughts, or for all the stuff I forgot to mention.
