Tell me about any movies you’ve seen recently (or long ago) which you happened to enjoy (or despise)
For me—just yesterday, I saw 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda, and it was very good! Without a doubt my new favorite movie.
Alright…your turn!

Predator:Badlands was fun. Not exactly what I consider predator but still fun. Had some fleshing out of the lore and more tech. Now if they’d just bring it all full circle with Alien: Covenant…
I saw Kill Bill vol. 1 and Chainsaw Man. Both movies were great!
I think Weapons was the most recent over hyped movie I last watched.. It was decent but I didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as everyone was making it out to be. I found it to be rather predictable and it was so similar to other movies in the past with a similar plot, it didn’t feel that original. It felt like a modern twist of The Brood
The acting was great, (Julia Garner
) it was shot well, the setting was great, atmosphere was good and generally everything else was decent about it but the overall story was not as deep as others made it out to be. Folks were gushing over it but I felt it needed more.
perhaps if it was longer it could have been fleshed out a bit more. Not much really happened in the way of horror and there was little mystery to it.
Perhaps it’s also a “me” problem because this is my genre and I’ve seen so many horror, thriller, and mystery movies. I may be a little jaded. I’d say, give it a watch. It’s worth watching but maybe taper your expectations and don’t believe the hype until you’ve watched it yourself.
I’ve watched quite a few lately, recently retired. ![]()
@cowmamba i didn’t have any real preconceived notions or idea if it would be good or not and really liked Weapons.
Sinners is very good. I’m a music guy and love an older movie called Crossroads. Which is also a blues crossroads type movie.
I also watched a documentary called “The Murder of Fred Hampton”. And then I watched it again. Moving and sad. Makes you want to help people.
last year i only watched few movies that picks my interest including the best and worst one
My wife and I recently watched “Wake Up Dead Man,” and it was fantastic. A bit darker than than the other Knives Out movies, but it still fit nicely in the series.
Anaconda wasn’t an amazing movie, but I did have some good laughs.
I finally got around to watching all quiet on the western front last night and thought it was uttely brilliant.
I saw the original as a Small Soldier/ Anaconda double feature at a drive-in back in the late 1900’s when I was but a 10y/o lad.
It was horrific and awesome.
I don’t know if I’ve seen the original, I just watched the trailer and I really should.
Yeah the best parts were already shown in the trailer, so I basically watched all the important scenes of the movie just from the trailer except the ice cube and JLO cameos which is meh for me
Gotta see Vol2 now. Really hoping Quentin does one with the little girl coming to take The Bride out! That would be an awesome sequel considering Uma tells her to come find her when she’s of age
i re-watched ‘midnight meat train’ with bradley cooper. it’s a bit gory and cheesy - from about 18 years ago around. worth a watch if you’re into that genre. i had a roommate in the oughts that was a real film buff, and oddly he turned me onto this.9
Clive Barker is the dude who wrote that. Love his stuff
That is one thing I find so infuriating about current movies and their trailers. They show so much stuff in the trailer it ruins the actual movie. They even go as far as putting one-liner zingers and big punchlines in the trailer that would be hilarious in the movie if you didn’t know it was coming. But since it was in the trailer, it doesn’t hit. The joke is ruined. I don’t get the point of doing that. If you’ve seen the whole movie in the trailer, what’s the point of going? Then they wonder why people don’t want to go to the theater anymore.
I’ve stopped watching trailers altogether from films I’m interested in.
Teaser trailers > trailers
Upgrade and Arrival. I liked both of them very much. Upgrade is my new favorite distopian a.i. flick. Arrival was a treat for the eyes and ears, subtle and mysterious.
