What are all those little colorful popsicle sticks in the left of the photo for??
Lol, I didn’t even notice those. My attention was completely absorbed by the slabs of pretty plywood.
He made his own spectraply by pressing a bunch of popsicle sticks together, then made a knack out of it. I thought it was sick, but not sure what happened to it. Can’t find the pics for the life of me.

I really want it. Like he could have just done this and still sold every single one. Did you decide on keeping it, @Glenacius_K ?
I still have it somehere, but it isn’t great. After a few days some of the popsticks decidided to shrink which is weird.
The picture above of the popstick KNack gives you a good idea of what the colour patterns will look like on the Spectraply. Check out the face; four layers are showing, so the SpectraPly KNacks will have a target board kind of look.
I’m not sure yet. I think I like it.
I understand why Colin of TMBR orients the ply the way he does. It makes for a more consistent turning experience between the ply and epoxy. The way I’ve done it is more challenging.
This one will.turn out a perfect weight; about 49.5g.
I know I’ve told you before but…
Do you like the orientation of the grain? Like the rings along the profile and target board face?
Absolutely! Looks great👍
Looks good
I REALLY like it. But if it’s difficult enough, I’m sure the other direction would also look just as nice.
You think you like it? Well, I know I do!
Yeah, I like that look a lot. It also makes the Spinworthy unique, which I think is a great selling point.
Can’t wait to see how the red/yellow turns out, I’m definitely going to need one of these. So cool!
Having started turning the second half, I’m getting a better feel for it now. It’s not that tricky after all. I just need to be a bit more aggressive with my cuts.
I heard other woodturners say that it’s exactly the same as turning a regular piece of wood, but that’s not true, it’s different.
There are some changes that I need to make next time, but it’s made. Slightly wobbly from me not glueing it straight.
This one also has an axle glued in with epoxy. It’s super solid. No more yoyos coming apart!
