How does it play?

I plays ok. It’s 3-4g heavier than my target weight. The gap is thin enough that I have to use kitty regular instead of kitty fat string. Not a deal breaker, but I think it should be able to handle either option.

It loops up a bit with a 75cm string. I’d like to increase the gap just enough to allow a thicker string, but that will probably necessitate a longer string so it doesn’t loop up further. Like 80cm+.

Ohh that’s awesome. I hope this ends up on the site after some refinements or heck I’ll buy a proto lol. Either way a wood looper is something I can 100% get behind.

I only have 2 more sets of guts to make these, unless I order more nuts from One Drop. I don’t know how many folks would want a wooden looper.

I tried a different spacer with a wider gap and a kitty fat string, but it just wasn’t snappy enough for good looping.
So I went back for the first setup, lubed the bearing and lengthened my string to 80cm, and it plays great.

Why did you choose bearing set up for loops instead of fixed?

Just curious - it looks smoove and it’s cool to see how your response design has continued to evolve!

Mostly because that’s where my curiosity took me . I also wanted to approximate a plastic looper somewhat.

I made a Bloodcell out of an Australian wood called golden wattle. Its about 47g and very smooth.

It’s beautiful! I love it! The Bloodcell is my favourite wooden SW model, I think. It’s just so comfy and capable. I prefer the aesthetics of the wing shape models, but I pick up the Bloodcell the most. As a result I now play a fixed RBC as my edc companion yo-yo.

Still on my list along with a knack or harbinger at some point. Love to see these getting made.

I made a rough prototype to test out my new bearing kit. I’m really excited with how it turned out. It uses the same bearing and pads that are in the RBC.

Dude!! That is sick!! I’ve been waiting to see this since you posted the pics of the axle systems the other day. That is the wood I need right there. How does one find out when your drops are?

I’ve got a page on my website to sign up for emails. Folks on that list get notified first about drops. :+1:
