Show some plastic yoyos you made

Acetal is a pretty low friction material, lower than wood for sure. That could explain why it snags less than others that are similar.

I think this combined with pure nylon Airetic strings makes for something amazing!

I’m thinking it’s similar response wise to my SW responsive, and I got my Woodboy to also play like that with a 1/2 spec. Both of them are snappy, and yet will handle string tricks. It sounds like yours is even a step beyond with that sweet spot, and I’m excited to try it, but I think part of the response magic has to do with the Cabal/Rally guts.

I was simply stating that you can get the Deep State to be responsive, and do string tricks. @edhaponik talks about a good responsive setup being able to do STM and Spirit Bomb. I have to take that down a notch. For me, it’s STM and Mach 5. Edit: Add Kwyjibo, and Boingy Boing.

I can definitely achieve that on the Deep State.

I should prob qualify that not as a “good” setup but a “versatile” one. Deep State is a good example of a yo-yo which isn’t the easiest to hit either 1a or 0a on, but which can certainly handle both.

Lately I LOVE playing ultra responsive setups which have no chance of hitting traditional 1a stuff - but they’re definitely still totally worthwhile. For me, it WAS a really valuable experience realizing that I could hit 1a tricks on a super snappy yo-yo, and that I could hit stalls, moons, loops, etc on a less responsive one. But for sure, there are plenty of great yo-yo’s which aren’t meant for both, and I don’t pretend that what I like should be assumed to be ideal for everybody (or anybody!) else.

It’s taken forever for me to come around to this idea for yoyos in general. Forever I was trying to find the one yoyo to do everything. I actually felt like I did about 12 years ago. It was the YYF 555.

Then I came back here and got the bug again, and started to appreciate yoyos and setups that are more specialists/specialized.

To get somewhat back on topic, my Acetal SW is an example. Mine is an early one (the first one?), and it is much heavier than what they have evolved to be. It is in no way an all rounder or EDC, but I wouldn’t change it. It has unique qualities that I enjoy.

I realize now that I’ve gotten rid of yoyos that, at the time, I felt weren’t versatile enough for me, that I’d probably appreciate more today.

I still way prefer for my responsive yoyos to be on the more versatile side of things, especially the ones with a bearing.

It’s certainly a great part of the magic, but not all of it. The diameter of the flat wall around the guts helps as well and is important to get right.

Of course! That’s why I said “part”…

Indeed you did. I should read more carefully.

No worries. Love what you do! That’s why I keep getting more Spinworthy yoyos.

Spent ages yesterday trying to make this Survivalist that the customer now does not want. Lol.

Bummer that they backed out, how you feeling about the axel?

Does the threaded axle let you take it apart, or is it just for assembly. Also, can I ask how much those go for?

The threaded axle means you can take it apart as much as you want to it doesn’t hurt the axles take to long to make and require a lot of precision, so these will be $75 shipped. However, or will last basically for ever.

The axle is fine but hard to make. The worst part is drilling in the body. It is virtually impossible to drill a clean hole as you can see from the profile shot. It’s messing with my tolerances. The yoyo will spin smoother if I can just find a way to drill holes in this stuff without all the plastic fluff left attached to the hole afterwards.

Maybe a small “non refundable deposit” for future orders.

Since these are made to order.

No. Its fine if you change your mind. I can always put it in the BST

That’s very kind of you Glen. But honestly asking someone for a $10 or $20 deposit is completely reasonable. Anyone that’s truly committed to buying wouldn’t/shouldn’t have a problem with this.

Ok… so can anyone tell my why I can put in a half spec bearing in my Cabal gut Spinworthy’s but if I put a half spec in a Cabal it won’t tighten all the way?!? I even tried a shorter axle. Maybe @The_Machinist knows.

The cabal guts close to different distances between the posts depending on the material thickness between the inner hub and outer hub.

So… you’re saying the Cabal is too thick between the hubs. Interesting!
