Should I get the Shutter in 2026?😮🪀⁉️

I need to know what monumental yoyo would be great for 2026 like the shutter or any other options.

@MaximShoots Forma, @hobbygod Emotion, and @MarkD Laze are some solid choices.

why not the shutter? or wide angle?

The shutter and shutter wide angle are fine choices for learning, however they are older designs and there are many more option for yoyos that have more stability and spin time in a similar price range.

so what are great throws for these times while the same price range? and will they have the same qualities as the shutter or better?

It’s hard to recommend anything in particular since many companies are putting out a large volume of throws that all play great. A great place to start is looking at the budget offerings of companies like W1ld, c3yoyo and yoyofriends since they seem to release the most amount of different models. Then, just find something that fits the size and shape you like.

I personally like the imagine breaker by C3 at that price point. It does feel a little heavier than the shutter, but that weight translates more spin and has a great pacing and control for a variety of styles of play.

The wilderness 7075 or the Halcyon by wild both have my vote at a similar price and better than the shutter

2nd the Wilderness 7075 recommendation, even 3 years after its release I think it’s gotta be the best performing monometal ever made. It’s not my favorite monometal, but I do think it is the best. Really hard to beat the value for the $$$ too.

I think Motion Positional and Onedrop Crucible are the best monos you can get right now. I like the Wilderness 7075 a lot too though.

well I live in Canada and the thing is that I am 11 years old, so I have to make sure that the yoyo will fit properly in my hand

those look pretty good :+1:

any body have any thing else to say?

Shutter is a relic these days. Not worth the price tag.

Get a W1LD shyness, Halcyon or Wilderness 7075.

W1LD makes really really nice stuff. If you’re willing to go closer to the 100$ mark check out W1LDs official page. They have the Wildify on sale for 90$ and if you spend 100$ you get free shipping. Grab a 100 pack of their original throw collab string and boom. 110$ gets you a Wildify (legitimately my favorite throw from them and insanely good) plus a 100 pack of a really good bulk poly string.

In yoyo friends what do you think about the quality for their yo-yos priced under 60$ are they the same or better than the shutter?

Yoyofriends makes lots of really great stuff. Some of their cheap monometals are impressive (eg shortcut, ultracut, etc). I’m not so big into these super wide throws like the pacer, but I bet it’s good quality for what it is. Never had complaints about any of my YYFr throws.

Maybe for your case, I’d recommend the ultracut.

Thanks I should check them out

what about the Helix from yoyo friends?

Shutter wide angle is still one of my favorites!! I was just playing mine for the last couple days. Go with your first instinct and grab one. You’ll love it.

added benefit is that it’s good at anything and everything you throw at it. It often gets knocked for that and I never understood why.

The Helix is kind of a sleeper hit IMO. It looks weird, it feels a little weird in the hand at first because it’s like 90% rims, but I have a lot of fun with it. It’s a cheat code for hooks, it basically lands beefhooks for you automatically. Not sure I could recommend it if you’re trying to be like ultra comp, but I would replace mine if I lost it.

@arcturus is correct about YYFr. They make great throws. I second the helix love as well @Greazy.
