Is there such of a thing as a good cheap camera? Asking for a friend.

I spent a lot of years shooting (mostly) Plus-X in an absolutely mint condition old Rolleiflex. Those cameras had magnificent Schneider optics - fantastic image quality, combined with the larger film size. Fine times!

The short answer is yes. Any name brand will work fine.
The long answer is what are you looking for? Digital or film? Point and shoots, SLR, DSLR, or mirrorless. If film instant, 35mm, or medium format?
I don’t know much about digital cameras but if you are just interested in a daily shooter then I’d say look at some of your camera functions on your phone. Many of the phone cameras do a great job and have a lot of options to mess with.
I love shooting medium format.
Sadly (yet understanding) more and more films are becoming discontinued.
