Just got my Fool’s Gold Avalanche in the mail yesterday. I’ve been using the Ava as my default design when I have to draw a yoyo, but have only been referencing it from photos. Now that I have one in hand, I’m more convinced than ever that this is my favorite looking yoyo of all time. Plays like a peach, too.
You say “less chunky and uneven” like chunk is a bad thing. Not sure about “uneven”… they both look symmetrical? Or do you mean the rim on the El Ranchero is so large that it looks out of place?
In both senses, I disagree. The chunky bold wackiness of the El Ranchero is its entire charm!
That said… I would love to get a Beta Pistolero, too, if there were a place to find such a beast.
I’ve always thought the Moonwalker was one of the most beautiful yoyos ever. It’s such a shame there are so few out there, my chances of getting my hands on one are so slim. Here are some that have been anno’d by jasonwongzero. Absolute beauties.
EDIT: I think the second one may actually be a Flying Hut. It’s hard to tell.
Chunky as in segmented and non-uniform. The engraving doesn’t follow one nice line along the rim, instead dipping in and out, and dividing into segments. I prefer the uniform and more defined edges of the Pistolero any day of the week.
i’ve always thought most SPYYs looking really dang sharp. the spike always pulls it off; those things all look menacing.
as pat was saying, the pure is also really sharp. i overlooked that… and totally forgot about it for that matter haha.
check spyy’s page… http://spyy.ca/index.php/throws/pure
there are some super nice pics on there.
