How are these yoyo contests scored? I mean what does the judges calculate during a freestyle?

This is the best explanation I’ve read, though I’m still a little unsure as to how certain elements are scored and I’m not 100% sure if it applies exactly as is to smaller contests.
It should be applied to all sanctioned contests that have ties into Nationals, Regionals and Worlds. But without a consistent set of judges, there will always be discrepancy.
The biggest issue is like you said, it’s a bit unclear how certain elements are scored. This is definitely a guideline and subject to interpretation. It also takes into consideration how a judge may feel towards a trick, especially if they know it. It’s nice and open ended to that knowledgeable judges can adapt to stuff they’ve never seen before.
