You can easily flow silicone in a way it ends up protruding consistency for responsive isnt as important.
The pad sticking out does reduce the gap which can make a yo-yo responsive. That is how a dial yoyo works like the velocity your just moving the pads in and out to increase or shrink the gap to preference. Sand can be done with response pads. I did this with a no name roller bearing wood yoyo from Etsy. Response pads where way easier than doing other stuff.
Thick string only goes so far. Thinner bearings only go so thin. Some folks donât want to use lube or grease because they want to maximize spin and create drag in other ways but lubing the bearing is definitely an easy way to make any yoyo respond
Thanks for the very precious information .
I think at some point like Mr âPunisherâ said, it is a âsearch for the Unicornâ that everyone has at some points and is also very personal , especially for minor improvements.
I tried everything , from making my strings , lube , pads.
But at the end, ordering bulk 100strings from the yo-yo brand, plus the other consumables makes it also âhassle freeâ.
However I do not regret having studied and DIY all those consumables in order to better understand the âphysicsâ of it.
Kind Regards
Lee
I think out of this whole thread the responsive Speedaholic is the way to go for you my friend. Modern shape, good performance and itâll always come back with a tug. I donât have one personally but I donât think Iâve ever seen anything bad said about them, just a straight up good plastic yoyo
jeeeeeeez !
Just clicked again !
Yo-yoing is getting addictive also on the buy side too !
(Only three responsive orange Speedaholics XX at YoyoExpert were in stock , didnât want to miss !!)
This Orange color looks so beautiful and natural !
By the way , received my second Responsive Crystal K2 from Magic Yo-yo .
It looks beautiful but it has nothing to compare to The Arrow Elite from Yo-yo Factory.
Bad weight distribution, even changing bearing & string could not correct the poor trajectories and spinningsâŚ.itâs the last yo-yo from Magic Yo-yo I buy.
The âmoldâ is the recess in the yo-yo where the pads go. You flow the silicone directly into the recess and let it set upâŚvoila!! Instant pads!! Check this thread out.
Nice! I think youll enjoy the speedaholic more than the arrow. The machined polycarb feels really nice compared to injection molds.
Mr. Lee,
It appears to me you are looking for answers in the products (Yoyoâs). Some of the issues you have mentioned isnât necessarily the âYoyoâsâ fault.
Ultimately this is a physical skill. If your throw is off, any yoyo wont behave as you intend. So make sure you are putting the time in to get good consistent throws.
With that said, I dont recommend being in a rush to âBinâ yoyos you are not currently agreeing with. I would recommend putting them aside and revisiting them later. You may be surprised.
âModdingâ or Tweaking the yoyos will come with experience. Which road you take depends on what you want and what behavior you are trying to streamline.
Have fun.
Iâll be the first to admit I often fiddle with the yoyo to get it the way I want over actually refining my own abilities. Iâm the end any yoyo can play well itâs the users skill and patience that determines that.
Thanks ,
Nice info
You are so right.
I give my yo-yoâs I dont like recently to friends.(Magic Yo-yoâs mostly, Locus V6, the smaller N8, the K1 Crystal, etcâŚ
Plus I practice a lot sessions of âonly spinningâ the most flat possible .
Itâs also a more calm exercise, then when warmer I begin to do more complicated stuff.
There are times when I feel to mod (retired from the vape world) , but most of the times I stick to what is manufactured , wich is almost perfect for the Arrow Elites(except a little moving parts), but it does not seem to affect the play.(I saw an old video on this issue , the guy saying to put a drop of loctite near the axel part , below to fix it, but Iâm too scared to kill one of my Arrow EliteâsâŚ)
Thanks for all your exceptionally precious advices, and the others participants too.
Best Regards
Lee
If you do loctite be careful donât do too much as itâll expand and crack polycarbonate depending on how the yoyo screws together. Purple is better than blue in regards to yoyo as you do want to be able to unscrew the yoyo without breaking it. Red is death to a yo-yo unless your never planning on unscrewing the parts.
Thanks a lot
Maybe I want to try with some Loctite.
Before potentially killing my beloved yo-yo , I want to put all chances on my side,
so just to make sure we are talking about the same thing,
( I made a short video of that moving , and also made a close-up on which point do you think I should put a drop or loctite ? (1-2-3)
Also , on my Arrow Elite not moving , the blue one, seems on the macro photo , that the parts are a little different ?
not only the color (black vs natural), but also seems that there is one extra part on the (the moving part yo-yo )
