Reponsive Diffusion or Triad?

Has anyone tried putting a slim C bearing in a YYR Diffusion or Triad and playing either responsive?

Really wide yo-yos kinda suck for responsive. Hard to explain, but true. The wider it is, the worse it gets in play.

Only narrower ones are OK, and I’d put the diffusion / triad in that category. That said, I do have a Fay that’s responsive and they came set up responsive (with an extra bearing) so… I’d say yes diffusion, no triad (bimetal weight distro responsive seems like a bad idea)?

I can’t help but wonder how much worse a responsive Triad would play than a Spinfaktor X which comes responsive out of the box.

Fay and Diffusion are literally almost identical (look up the stats!) so I’d start with that first and see how you like it.

That depends on a few things.

Flood the bearing you already have with lubricant. That should give you some feel for it being responsive. Otherwise use vaseline or chapstick in the bearing to make it responsive. I would recommend using bearings you dont care about for the latter.

Give it a shot and share your thoughts here!

Oddly enough, my Diffusion came with a half-spec bearing (as well as the regular one). Though to be honest, I have little interest in putting it in there.

You raise an interesting point. There’s a part of me that thinks maybe I should finally accept the fact that I’ll never want to throw plastic responsives ever again and just put full size bearings in my Sage and Spinfaktor X (or maybe just sell them off or give them away).

Delrin responsives are great! I even have some with weight rings.

Plastic, to me, is a bit like wood: it’s fundamentally an inferior material, the only reason to use it is aesthetics or cost.

Lemme know if you want to dump the SFX :+1:
