I have both and the Vanguard was my first metal also. I would recommend the Vanguard it has a smother coating for what you are asking about and is really stable i enjoy both but imo the Vanguard is just a little better for my skill set at least. Trying different shapes to see what you like is also good.
For the price i would probably vet the v shape benchmark if i had to do over instead of the Qilin the Onedrops just seem better quality.
