Questions People ask you when YoYoing in Public that gets under your Skin

“DOOD IZ DAT A CINIZE JOJO?!?!?!”

" No…"

" WELL DAT SUX. CINIZE JOJOZ R TEH BESHT"

Lol, it’s not a yoyo, it’s art!

oh I can get this, they don’t ask this here, but rather, they say “oh, it’s a small diabolo!”

I stay cool and nice, but deep inside, it’s boiling

I can relate to this…

One time I was yoyoing at the park. A little girl comes up to me, doesnt say anything at all. Just stands there and stares at me throwing for a few minutes. Then her mom comes up, and the girl asks, “Mommy, is that a real yoyo?” The mom quickly replies with, “No, of course not, honey. Its just a fake electronic yoyo.”
Now, I didnt say anything at all, because I just didnt want to be mean. But in my head, I was thinking, “…Really??… Wow.”
I mean, I know people are interested and stuff, and I really do appreciate the people that take interest in it. But really? Why would people think that I just got some electronic magic yoyo thats lands on the string and hops around the string, especially when they can obviously see that my hands and arms are moving the string with the yoyo. lol I can’t really see how they think a yoyo is just gonna move your hands and arms to make it to tricks by itself. I mean, its not even possible… Haha I have a ton of other related stories, but just remember that if we see an awesome talent that we know nothing about, we could say something that they seem stupid, without us even knowing we asked something that sounds rediculous to them.

I’ve never gotten the electronic yoyo thing before. Where did people hear about an electronic yoyo?
There’s only been one that I know of, and I don’t think the general population has heard of it.

The only thing that really bugged me is someone after school said, “I can do that.” So I did a quick little combo and a eli hop that almost hit him (yes i know that was wrong). Then all was good.

And actually no one who has seen me yoyo asked if it was a real yoyo, but if that happens i would just explain how it spins so long.

sorta off topic…
but at my school all of the “popular” kids make fun yoyoing…it really bugs me…I can be playing with my 54 and a crowd of my friends and some other people will stand around and watch me…and I think its great! they get interested and I get to teach them some thing new…Ive actually got people into yoyoing:D what I hate is when that crowd is around and some “popular” kids walk right in the middle of the crowd, and as I am doing a trick with a $100 dollar yo they literally grab it, look at it and say “why would u spend that much on a toy? what a loser.”

  1. its kinda embarrasing
and 2.why the stupid question? if you dont like it or your jealous that i actually have little talent why dont you just stay away from me and my yoyoing…lol. I have had a friend quit yoyoing because of it.

back on topic

questions I strongly dislike:
“DOES IT HAVE A MOTOR??”

“is that a magic yoyo?”

why do you waste all that money?

One that I hate very much is:
do you ever talk to girls? they act like its a weird geeky type thing…and since when were yoyo’s used to get girls?

just my thoughts…

there is wayyy to less yoyo knowledge in the world…who thinks we should make a worldwide movie of what yoyoing really is…one that comes to theaters around the world! haha…wait didnt they already do that?

I say “who gives a darn about girls, if they are for you, they wont care about your talents.”

strings, the documentary.

seriously! I have other things in life at the moment…like pursueing my dreams…i can deal with girls after college!

I’ve haven’t had anyone come up to me yet and ask. I’ve had a couple of people watch and stare or bring their kids over and say “look at that, isn’t that cool.” But I think my wife is my biggest critic.

“If you spent as much time mowing the yard, cleaning up after the kids, and helping out around the house, you would have a much happier wife!”

And I’m like:

“Yeah but don’t you want a happy husband too?” haha. It’s all good.

@dynikus, I had a couple people ask me if my genesis was an electric yoyo and I’m just wondering,“What could posibly lead them to think that”. Nothing that I have heard or been asked has gotton on my nerves but it’s just those outlandish questions that make me wonder. I asked one person what lead him to think it was electric and he said that it was the noise it made…most questions that I get are

“Will it spinn forever”
“Is that an electronic yoyo”

and then they go home and play with their $600 playstation on a $1000 TV

in general, I strongly dislike all these “know-it-all”, they just “know”, or assume they do, therefore they never have a chance to learn and they end up as boring adults, just sitting here, watching TV just as it was the “holy word”.

never really got the “popular” thing you guys have going on in US schools, are people really becoming popular by being mean to others? or is it just movies/TV depicting them like that? (always wondered)

BAsically. Luckily i get my popularity from my yoyo, the school news, (im always on it), and friends. Not the other way.

I was once yoyoing at Macy’s while waiting in the checkout line, and a little kid (2-3 years old) was watching me. H e turns to his mom, and says “Look Mommy! That kid has a magic yoyo!” I thought it was so cute. T he lady turns around, sees me yoyoing, and picks up her son and moves to a different checkout line. I’m just standing there, all “what the heck?”

I hate it when someone asks if my 4a is a diablo. Or even worse: "Is that a chinese yoyo thing?

And $70 a game and decide they don’t like it so they throw it away? Yeah basically

Basically.

The thing that gets under my skin is when someone watches you yoyo in amazement and you can tell they want to ask you some questions but then get bashful and walk away. The unasked questions bother me.

These aren’t questions that get under my skin but just get asked a lot at school:

  1. “Dude, how does that spin for so long”
  2. “CAN I TRY THAT YOYO DUUUDE?!”
  3. (My firend is learning to yoyo and so he goes and finds some of his other friends and then goes) “Hey, check this out” Then he turns to me and goes “Dude, show off. Show off. Show them some tricks!”
  4. “Is that a metal one? :O”
  5. (as siad before) “DO WALK THE DOG!”
And the one I get the most is…
  6. “Is that a yoyo?!”
