I was going to write a haiku about yoyos
But I couldn’t remember how many syllables per line
Poetry is hard
I will not compete. I’ll feel like I’m cheating…I have rhymes in the vault.

Throwing is one of life’s many pleasures
Whether it be a rock or a feather
If it is stable as a gyroscope
Or if it floats as a nautical boat
If it eats up your polyester string
If it is a fixie you cannot ding
You may not be the best at single A
But if you had fun by the end of day
Then you deserve a general’s precision throw
And continue tomorrow in full tow
A sonnet for school. It is not strictly about throwing but here it goes:
A human life is quite a very short
There are a many ways to waste your life
You should not waste it in a legal court
Or playing with a very dangerous knife
Or helping Michael break both of his feet
Or experimenting on the people
Or selling ominous things on the street
But you can live a life of meaning full
By saving lives as a good doctor
Or throwing a Canadian metal
Or helping people fix their broken door
Or helping make a bicycle pedal
You are not guaranteed a brand new day
So please do not waste this one if you may

The Ups and Downs of Life
Life is a lot like a yoyo.
It’s like a yoyo going up and down.
You’ll have your high points…
And you’ll have your down points…
That feeling you just don’t want to continue?
The time when you just can’t continue?
Like the yoyo sitting at the end of the string?
Pick yourself back up
Wind the string back around the yoyo.
And start over again.
If you don’t give up,
You’ll always find a better place.
When you feel the yoyo jump back to your hand,
