This just happened with a rather reputable company with a Kickstarter/ Preorder last year. Took well over a year, and a few hiccups along the way with multiple tiers. A few Kickstarters have been kicked down the road. Buyers Beware
Hey all,
Did anyone back the Recess kickstarter last year and pick the Nickel Joyride tier?
There was a ton of delays with it (which was to be expected all things considered) but last we heard from Tyler was in August. He said the joyrides just needed to be nickel plated then they were good to go.
Just wanted to see if anyone knew of any updates on this? maybe I’ve missed a post or an email about it
Thanks for sharing this here - I just wanted to add that immediately when someone commented asking why retailers received the Dino First Base I reached out to him and Tyler explained that the people who did not receive their yoyos were the backers who ordered the yoyo with a t-shirt. Obviously as a kickstarter campaign goes I understand backers expectations is they would be first in line and the fact that Tyler had all the yoyos sitting without the shirts ready I guess he felt it was ok to sell …
John Higby has a lot of clout in the yoyo community. I personally like his art. Not necessarily all of it but damn near all of it. To one of the OP’s comments about people being salty over the Kickstarter. John had started a Kickstarter for a children’s book called Eveybody Loves Yoyos. There was a goal of $2,000 needed to fund the book. Not surprisingly he raised like $12,000! To give you an ideal of just how loved and appreciated this man is.
Unfortunately, the book never came to pass. …
