Plastic Peak CLYWxLuftverk

Short answer: yes

The nostalgia and everything has passed but the overall fun factor and just really awesome quality plastic yoyo-ness has stayed. Definitely something I’d pick up even if I didn’t know or care what the Peak was

I say this as a huge fan and supporter of Jeff’s work, but very honestly I find the Plastic Peak to be extraordinarily underpowered, lacking any meaningful spin power and having sub par weight distribution. Frankly, it is not a good performing yoyo - but it’s 100% plastic and based on a yoyo that’s nearly 20 years old lol, so that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

I also understand that this sub par weight distro likely had to be the case in order to maintain the Peak aesthetic, and something that’s probably very difficult to translate well into plastic.

But if you want something “fun” and something to give you “a change of pace,” pick one up… otherwise, if you want a much better performing and similar yoyo, you’ll be happy with your 000.

They’ll be in stock and easy to get for while… if you wanna wait to get one until you try mine at DXL, I’ll bring mine.

“But Spence it gets through my skin the gerbil and chopsticks combos just fine! Has to be a comp yoyo”

Haha it actually is a good “challenge” yoyo

That’s why it’s even more impressive to see great players (like Alan on CLYW) using it and throwing bangers on it

I appreciate the Pleak for that reason as well as it being apart of the Peak lineage, performance aside it’s undoubtedly a cool yoyo.

Nah you know I’m kidding based off previous threads and comments :joy:

I have to agree with Spence. The spin time isn’t near what the P000 has. That said, the spin time is not bad at all considering what it is. Not a ton of rim weight and highwalls. I’ve actually only used mine for 3A so far and my 3a is not smooth. Yet i can still enjoy a 3a sesh on them and the spin time is really great. The P000 spin time is just on another level. For sure binds are much more consistent on the peak due to those glorious highwalls. I love both the PPeak and P000 for totally different reasons.

Oh and they are very quite when they clank together. Which is very refreshing.

For anyone that got both a white and blue plastic peak:

I just received a blue after playing with a white for a couple week and…

Am I taking crazy pills or is the blue peak significantly denser in play?

White plastic peak feels floaty for its size and moves swiftly.
Blue plastic peak feels heftier on the string and noticeably slower. Enjoying the perceived heft of the blue.

I do not mind the difference, but it is significant.
I would almost call the blue, Plastic Peak, and the white, Plastic Peak lite.

What is going on here? Dye can’t weigh this much.

Also: can anyone ID the string shipped with Plastic Peaks? No word from Luftverk

Here I got y’all for science and completion. Obviously caramel got that extra heft in it’s dye.

Joking it’s the same weight as the others

Are you using the same type of string cut to the exact same length on each yoyo?

thats super impressive that they’re identical lol, not that i think they’re all identical, just that you got a matching pair lol

but who told you they are dyed? I think it’s batch-dyed polycarbonate.

Which means they have dye in them… Because the polycarbonate had been dyed…?

Not sure what you’re trying to get at there.

delrin is only available in two colors, white or black, so if you see it in other colors it is because it has a superficial color. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, such as polyvinyl chloride or other polymers, are available in any desired color as the dye is homogeneously present in the mixture. for example, a vinyl record (vinyl in its natural form is clear), whether it’s black or any other color, do you think it’s painted on the surface? same thing for children’s toys… do you think they are painted?

How does that have anything to do with what anyone has said in this thread?

Edit: literally no one has said anything about these being painted.

You asked “who told you they are dyed?”

And then go on to explain that they’re obviously dyed.

What are you trying to get at here?

Let me be clear:

I was not questioning that they were dyed. That’s obvious.

I was questioning what you were trying to get across in your message, as it sounded like you were questioning why someone would think they have dye in them, and then going on to state that they obviously have dye in them.

So I don’t know why you would ask the question “who told you they were dyed?” and then explain that they have dye in them.
