Get the Adegle PSG. Josh Yee uses those, and says they are the best
this thing is built to be dropped
and honestly, yes when you begin, you WILL drop your throw a lot. but once you got it figured out, you won’t drop it that much anymore. the only times I drop mine and I really have to be careful about it are when I practice for some very specific types of new tricks. Other than that, it just doesn’t happen. Just watch a 5A competition and see how rarely a 5A player drops his yoyo compared to, say 4A.
at EYYM I spend the week end being drunk in barcelona, throwing my mint steamroller in 5A in the streets, never dropped it.
Right now, I’m rocking a YYF starbrite, funny little thing. I wouldn’t seriously advise for a FHZ, they got MUCH better, but unless you either know how to mod or you are already experienced in yoyoing so you can throw straight and strong, I’d advise against a FHZ. just go for something that is very stable and spins for a long time. like a northstar, protostar for example (if you like plastic).
but I don’t believe in starting something while already deciding that you’ll fail at it. I know I started 5A with a SPYY addiction and a nickel Code 1, dropped neither, I just stayed over the carpet when I was practicing, up until the point I was confident enough to throw outside. Now I throw my acrylic steamroller (only 10 made), my SPYY Pure Gold or my C3 H5, it’s just an extra motivation not to drop them. and if I do drop them, well, they’re just toys, who cares?

That’s the Asteroid, Pinnacle, Northstar, and Genesis. I was surprised at the performance of the Pinnacle, I’m not too fond of the Genesis personally, and I was using the Northstar as my main 5A until the Asteroid came it. It is currently in testing.
waiting for a PSG, but right now I’m seriously having the time of my life using that starbrite + Ctrac, can’t believe it’s so cheap and so brilliant !
