Just got a one drop reboot, tried a thumb grind, then after noticed paint on my thumbnail from the yoyo. Is this normal? Ive done the thumb grind with multiple other yo-yos and this has never happened to me before.
You must be getting extra sick with it!
Whats the coating? Is it anodized or cerakote?
That’s what I was thinking. I’ve heard of cerakote chipping/transferring. I can’t imagine ano would do that. I could be wrong though.
I had this happen with a General Yo Majesty way back in the day. The ano just kind of rubbed off in the cups… The oxidization layer didn’t form I guess.
I had the same with the YYF Flame.
Still don’t know what happened. YYF gave me a partial refund for it.
anodized
I would be reaching out to One Drop to share my experience, hopefully it was just a fluke and not a bad run of throws
Pictures?
Do you know how I could contact them? Do they have an account on here?
On their website when you click the email icon at the bottom it gave me the address “onedropdesign@gmail.com”
I had this happen with the YYF spotlight 1st run. It was really bad. One thumb grind and the entire tip of my thumb was covered in paint. I wish I took a picture.
Contacted them and they said it just happens sometimes with anodized 7075 aluminum.
Unfortunate.
Embrace the patina! Congrats, you now have a nice throw to not worry about beating up lol
Nah Im just going to sell it since its not good for grinds either and tilts a lot. Thanks for the info before.
Not exactly chipping away but I’ve had the anno wear away over the course of years with my OG YYF Superstar.
I think at a certain point if you do thumb grinds regularly it’ll just inherently start to wear away given you’re essentially scratching the anno with your nail, but it shouldn’t really be happening that quickly I don’t think.
It should not be happening at all…the ano should be harder than the nail. Or be imbedded in the Aluminium which is also harder than the nail.
Had the same with a G2 Banshee Custom. “G2 Quality” messaged Jake never got a response. Thing plays flawless but it was much better before the ano peeled off on grinds
This is accurate. One of the reasons I avoid 7075 alloy, especially on non blasted bodies.
Depends on how you messaged Jake. Did you email g2 or try to message him here or on Facebook/insta cause he don’t check those messages.
