I think we all understand that, but what does “Chik!” mean in his language? Where did he get the nickname? Who gave it to him? Or are we calling him a girl?
What’s the story behind the dripping engraving? What was the inspiration for it?
The reason I ask is while I love the shape, I’m not entirely fond of the name or the engraving, but perhaps if I know more about the story behind them, it might grow on me.
It’s just a nickname that his friends call him - it doesn’t actually have any meaning in Russian or any language. Igor is into graffiti type art so that is what the dripping paint in about.
We offer freedom of expression to our players when they get a signature yoyo. Igor has been on our team for a long time and was definitely deserving of this. We asked him what he wanted for a yoyo, what he wanted to call it and what style the art should be.
That’s the sound of my Onedrop cherry popping. Got my purple Chik today and it is goooorrgeoouuusssss. I always wanted a burnside and this is basically a more attractive version.
It’s early days but so far I’m nothing but impressed by the play of it, especially at such a good price. Can’t wait to really put it through its paces.
I don’t know if Chris was kidding but he said his arm is going to kill after testing all 1000 of the first run. So they won’t be very limited. Both will probably be made in the thousands once its all said and done.
According to One Drop’s Instagram it looks like version 2 of the Format C: is heading to team members. As I said on the HSYY Facebook, I am seriously tempted to break my long standing rule of never asking for sponsorship… the purple on that yoyo is gorgeous.
