But, that never works. And I can’t just play a yoyo like that, it drives me nuts. Like finger nails on a chalk board

In my experience that’s what I refer to as a “broken bearing”. 
I’ve tossed many over the years. They just go bad sometimes.

I dunno I think Smiley could have given a few more percent effort on that bearing. I feel like it was 105%, 110% tops, but could have been 120%

Another new found obsessive compulsion of mine is that if a yoyo has a two-part fade, I have to tune each half so that when it’s fully tightened, both of the halves line up in opposite ways.
Obviously there is a little discrepancy in how much of each color is on each side, in other words the Fades are not precisely half and half. But I have to at least split the difference
